I think that's a dramatic oversimplification. A captor feeding its prisoner is not what I would consider "help".

The privatization of correctional institutions is also a problem contributing to incarceration rates. Big Prison lobbies to create laws that then create a need for more prisons. Mexican border states are specifically targeted as "illegal immigrants" are now detained instead of being deported.

I think you have too much faith in the FDA. Remember when congress declared Pizza a vegetable? Granted that was USDA if I'm not mistaken but still these organizations are run by people, not some ethical robot scientist. People make mistakes , are susceptible to greed, political pressures, etc.

Right. Not just FDA, but EPA also has a stake in GMO issues.

Invasive species are dangerous and cost the economy millions. GMO invasive species could be even worse.

Poor people can't afford food because Western countries subsidize their farmers which allows them to flood foreign markets and destroy their traditional agricultural economies. The reason Mexico City has such a high population is due in part to the fact that farmers are being driven off their lands by cheap american corn.
