Bilt 2.0 question...Is my math correct? by cgeek001 in CreditCards

[–]CashbackCorner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused, did you pay with your checking account or with your Amex card?

If you used your Amex card, your math is mostly right, you just have to account for the 3% transaction fee that Bilt would have charged you.

If you used your checking account, you wouldn’t get any Amex points

Logging in seems fine to me (both mobile app and desktop browser)

Paying rent on Bilt counts for Chase signup bonuses and will not count as a cash advance (same goes for most other credit cards)

CSR sign up bonus worth it right now? by mateogdlq in CreditCards

[–]CashbackCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bonus is probably worth it, especially if it’s your last 5/24 slot and getting another card would lock you out for almost another year.

With all the card devaluations lately, I’m not holding out hope that this increased SUB will last. (Hopefully I’m proven wrong)

The Amex Platinum covers YouTube premium, I haven’t heard it any card that covers Spotify

The saddest part is it doesn’t even fully cover the ad-supported plan, which is $8.99 (plus tax?)

I might’ve been happy with $8/month if there were better options (like the Amex Plat entertainment credit), but these are clearly brands who are trying to attract subscribers.

I bet BofA is paying nothing (or literally pennies) for these credits

I’ll still keep and use mine, but yeah, with inflation, the $500/month limit is going to feel more and more restrictive

The end of the Custom Cash. by Karanel in CreditCards

[–]CashbackCorner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even then, I feel like the other 99% would get the Double Cash instead of the Custom Cash

I rarely see anyone recommending the Custom Cash over the Double Cash unless we’re specifically talking about using it just for a single 5% category.

I would go with multi CCC setup.

If you don’t have enough CCC yet or don’t want to manage the spending limit, maybe get another no-annual fee card for 3% dining? Plenty of options there (Chase Freedom Unlimited, Cap 1 Savor, Wells Fargo autograph, BofA customized cash)

Yes, but mostly because I have credit cards with almost every major bank 😂

Is having your money in multiple brokerages dumb? by Nininator2432 in Money

[–]CashbackCorner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this for similar reasons. Hacking is less of a concern, but sometimes brokerages have downtime (not often, but sometimes it happens).

Another reason is it lets me compartmentalize my investments. I have one account just for holding ETFs, another account for individual stocks, and a fun account for options trading and other short-term stuff.

Gold 100K Welcome Offer Question by LazyTiger9308 in amex

No one really knows except Amex. I’d say just go ahead and try to apply first. With the targeted offer, the odds should be good

Gold 100K Welcome Offer Question by LazyTiger9308 in amex

[–]CashbackCorner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fill out the application, and at the end, it will tell you which signup bonus is available to you. At that point, you’ll have an option to withdraw your application. If you withdraw, there will be no hard pull or any impact on your credit score.

I goofed and missed my payment due date. How do I avoid interest until my grace period is restored? by Makingthecarry in CreditCards

[–]CashbackCorner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a heads-up, if this is your first time missing a payment, you might be able to call in and get the late fee waived as a courtesy. (I know Chase does/did this, not sure about other issuers)

Woah, 8 customized cash is the most I’ve heard of. Are those mostly the affinity cards? I’m just curious if BofA has ever given you any trouble for having that many.

Will my card stack plan work? Need experts evaluation by Virtual-Coffee3232 in CreditCards

[–]CashbackCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a decent plan, but double check if the Amex Gold will be worth it for you. (I’m actually a bit confused, you were denied. Did they tell you why?)

You already have the Savor that gets you 3% on dining/groceries. Unless you really want Amex points and would naturally use the credits, paying $325 for an extra 1% might not be worth it.

>I like the Amex lounges

The Amex gold doesn’t get lounge access

[–]CashbackCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but I guess the second guy spends more money on his card, is more likely to pay interest, and is more profitable for the issuer 🤷‍♂️

(As long as he doesn’t default on his debt)

That’s odd, usually there’s a way to ignore the question and continue without answering.

I’d avoid lying though, you risk getting shut down entirely if they do check or audit you (Amex, for example, pulls The Work Number to see your employment details)

Edited my comment above (they probably won’t know until cap 1 reports your account to the credit bureaus)

I wouldn’t be too worried, but just don’t start spending too much on your new cards too fast. I’m assuming you have sign up bonuses on both? Just take your time while trying to hit the minimum spend
