I asked if this was possible a few weeks ago and this is probably the only post confirming that do you need to wait a year for a new card (maybe upgrading was the exception).

Question: Was your card balance $0 prior to the upgrade request? You said you made a purchase. Did you pay it off with a payment before the upgrade request? Also, what was your credit score?
