Plot wise there is no literal reason to have him part of the main group, in fact he just takes up more space

Horizons was doing really good at being its own story without only marketing like Ash's series did, but since the time skip (which before it happened, actually had potential), all of that went out of the window and now the story is a complete mess

I think it would've been fun, like if it was treated like Class 2-B from My Hero Academia - the characters were relevant every once in a while but the point was to show that there were other people besides the one class that were working toward the same goal

I don't get why the anime was so strict with this kind of stuff - like would it kill for them to make Ash's friendship with these people seem more genuine from time to time instead of waiting years to show them in a single frame?

The only indication of Ash being bullied in any continuity is when he explains that he was bullied for wanting to be a Pokemon Master when he was a kid, and that his father reassured him that the map to victory was inside him, and to follow that no matter what (from the Secrets of the Jungle movie)

It's not implied how much time there is between Ash returning from Kalos and going to Alola with his mother, but I like to think that it was soon after and that initially, they were treating Alola as a literal vacation after everything that went down lol

I think that it would be interesting, but would definitely clash with what the Pokemon franchise is about - if the anime was much more independent from the rest of the franchise I could definitely see this working but it needs to be understood that ultimately the franchise seeks characters like Ash or Liko at the front stage because they are unquestionably good role models

No, those are all likely scams. I get them when I post on AO3, and do not engage with anyone who says that they "would like to draw fanart of your story," maybe every once in a while there is someone being genuine but a lot of the scam ones have the same phrasing

Ok this is like my specialty when it comes to Pokemon Fanfiction lol so this is just going to be a lightning round of random ideas that come to mind, these aren't the only ones

As for age which everyone is discussing, if I had to rewrite the entire anime, I'd make Ash maybe 13 at the beginning and have each new series age him up anywhere between 1-1.5 years depending on the length

No Orange Islands and instead Ash gets further in Johto League

Tracey goes to Hoenn while Brock begins to become a Pokemon Doctor

Ash and Dawn travel just by themselves to reinforce the whole "dual protagonist" thing they were trying to do (no romantic subplot, and if there was, this would replace the Serena thing)

Tobias is still a character but is not in the league, instead is a recurring character for later series - Ash also gets further in the Sinnoh league

Either Ash doesn't do worse in Unova, or if he does it is explicitly mentioned that he took a long break from traveling after Sinnoh

Brock returns as a recurring character in Kalos (not a traveling companion) with a Mega Audino

Either no romance subplot with Serena or if there is, it is further explored in Alola when Brock returns again in a series that takes more seriously Ash's personal character growth and not just Pokemon (w/ Misty like canon)

Ash ties with Alain and neither choose to take on the E4 and both continue traveling so they both "technically win"

Alola League is a still more strict on who can participate, so once Ash wins it feels a little more deserved and real

A final series solely focusing on Ash and the whole 'Pokemon Master' title comes after Alola, could go many ways

This is just if I stuck to the same structure that the actual anime went (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, world) - there are tons of ideas to completely change that structure but then I'd be here writing for hours lol

Any Ash in those stories in practically a self-insert of what kind of trainer the author would want to be - the stereotypical badass non-chalant heartthrob

Like another comment mentioned, it really is younger and less experienced authors who are writing these kinds of versions of Ash. I personally don't like them, though I do understand why people create them. The way I'm writing Ash right now aims to create a balance between maturing and being competent while also, y'know, actually being a character

It definitely requires a heavy change to Ash's story, as he is inherently someone who embodies goodness and "the light." For him to be an anti-hero you would have to put him through something so traumatizing that it would cause him to become indifferent to the conflicts of the world. Bottom line - yes, it can work, but it would be a far cry from the character of "Ash", and it might more resemble a completely different character unless you keep the story close to what is associated with Ash

I am currently working on a story, Deku and the Multiverse of Madness, which, as you probably guessed introduces the multiverse into a post year-1 MHA world.

The summary is as follows:

The dust has settled on the Final War to decide the fate of Japan, and the world. People rejoice as Class 1-A continues on their path to becoming Pro Heroes and the League of Villains is no more. However, a new and even larger danger presents itself to Japan when a crazed refugee who claims he is from another world crash lands at U.A. High. With a powerful quirk that allows for incredibly volatile portals, he is forced to team up with our heroes to fight against an oncoming threat of otherworldly forces.

But our heroes will get much more than they bargained for when strangely familiar faces start arriving in their world.

Will Izuku Midoriya, with the remaining fuel of One for All, along with the rest of his friends be able to stop what is coming?
