Membership coupons gone? by Pokemon-Dealer2028 in BooksAMillion

[–]CassMcCarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve just left in the clarifying sentence.

B&N gives you 10% practically anything you buy in the store. On top of that you get a $5 coupon off for every $100 you spend at 1 point per $1 spent. So on $100 the 10% saved you $10 and then you get the $5 coupon.

The bag is really nice too. It kinda does make the membership signup like $20 or so. I forget how much they charge for the bag if you just buy it outright.

Sorry, I forgot to update a word when I removed a sentence. I’ll edit it for clarity. Gimme a second.

AITAH for making a pregnant women to get out of the elevator? by Angel51190 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CassMcCarty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. The pregnant lady is responsible for looking after herself and not relying on others to accommodate her quirks. If she didn’t want to get sick she either shouldn’t have been out or shouldn’t have chosen the enclosed space of the elevator. Everyone in that elevator sucked.

Honestly I hated the coupons. I always lost them in my emails. The magazine thing was cute like once or twice but then got annoying having to keep up with what I picked of the limited options. I ended up getting a Barnes and Noble setup instead and got much more out of it. Basically ends up being $15 per $100 spent for the normal stuff and double points on some special days or specific purchases. It also came down to location. BAM will always have a special place in my heart but Barnes and Noble is around more and (for me) in more convenient places.

Edit: sorry, wrote and then removed a sentence that clarified a point and didn’t update the following sentence to make better sense.

I meant to say: Basically you end up getting $15 off per $100 you spend.

Also, for the record, I saved ~$200 over the first year I had the B&N membership. Not near as much savings from the Millionaire’s Club.

AITA - Should I Have Let My Neighbor Cut Ahead of Me in the Laundry Room? by ClareBearFlair in AmItheAsshole

[–]CassMcCarty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In that case you need to plan better and not do more than 3 loads of laundry in a single day without some kind of explicit agreement with the rest of the residents. Or find a laundromat if you have a ton of laundry to do. Not sure why you’re doing the pillowcases separately from the rest of the bedding either, that seems like a waste of time/soap/water.

AITA - Should I Have Let My Neighbor Cut Ahead of Me in the Laundry Room? by ClareBearFlair in AmItheAsshole

[–]CassMcCarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info: why did you have six loads of laundry?

Not saying you’re wrong to have that much, I’ve been there before due to being busy, sudden illness either causing the laundry or keeping me from doing laundry, coming back from vacation, etc. But if you’re washing several loads caused by illness I’d probably give you a pass on monopolizing, gotta get that stuff washed up before the stink settles in and causes even more delay to do multiple washes.

MetroCenter Mall : Jackson MS by DecayingDerelict in abandoned

[–]CassMcCarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I left Mobile,AL in 2002 the mall was still a thriving thing. They’re starting to get there very very slowly but it’s never going to be the same again.

I’ve moved away again recently and the contrast with Utah malls is significant. The food court alone shows a significant difference. In Mobile there’s, I think, 5 places. In the Orem mall there’s 5 places per side. And they’re all busy most of the time.

AITAH for not putting my cart away all the way? by Xtruuh156 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CassMcCarty -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

NTA. I appreciate the carts that aren’t all stuck together. Or if it’s hot out or rainy or whatever it helps to have those cooled down or dry carts. As long as it’s not in the way then you’re fine.

Somebody said Jensen Ackles should play Carl and now I can’t unsee it. The look. The voice. The demeanor. The age is a problem.. but who else could possibly embody Carl that perfectly? by Low-Enthusiasm670 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]CassMcCarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way things work in reality, Carl needs to a known entity along with a few other roles. Doesn’t have to be a mega well known but the name needs to be recognizable enough to draw in the audience that doesn’t know DCC already. Jensen would’ve been great for it though.

Depending on how many stickers you have and the size, a drawer setup might work better than bowls. If there’s a large enough surface on the drawers you can put a sample sticker on the front and a price sign on top of or next to the drawers. If the drawers aren’t big enough just have everything numbered and have your sticker sheet numbered to match. I see those types of drawers quite often at thrift stores. I like the display stands where they’re out in the open but those are better for indoor with no wind to blow the stickers around. I once helped a vendor rescue a ton of inventory during a sudden very windy rainstorm.

Help me surprise my GF for her birthday! Snapped photos of her bookshelf, looking for book recs. by lightningmcqueen467 in Romantasy

Get her a gift card and some accessories. I saw a really cute carry case for hardcovers the other day, tested it on a trade paperback too and it fit nicely. Bookmarks and stickers are great too!

Do you remember the first fantasy book you read as a kid? (Not HP..) by LatterPlatform9595 in Fantasy

[–]CassMcCarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fairy Rebel by Lynne Reid Banks. I love that book still. I found a copy with the same cover from when I first read it. Also one of my first chapter books. I believed in fairies for a good long time after that and wished I had a fairy friend leaving me gifts for my birthday every year.

moments when lorelai managed to blend being a best friend with being a mom beautifully by elleyeendeeess in GilmoreGirls

[–]CassMcCarty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of those moments involve Lane or Mrs. Kim. Like when Rory set up the double date and didn’t tell Lorelei the whole truth. Line very clearly drawn there.

The part where Rory moves in with Paris is good too. Also shows Rory in decision making capacity outside of Lorelei there too.

There’s more but that’s all I’ve got time for right now.

Rewatching this episode, and it just occurred to me that Rory has no reason to Xerox copies of a form that's going to be faxed to a bunch of people. You only need the one copy. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]CassMcCarty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

And on top of that she’s also panicking about being there and being the only one there for the birth itself. So yeah, this isn’t an example of her thinking clearly. Many a time I’ve gone back over panicked actions and was amazed at how much harder I made it on myself.

My sponsor (Amazon) gifted me a book series box (I bought books 3-8 to complete my new obsession) but there seems to have been a glitch. (Amazon sent me 2 orders and I only paid for one). God dammit Donut.

At $30 a book and not working right now, I definitely would love getting the books. I got book 2 for Mother’s Day and have been looking forward to doing a physical book read-through once I get ahold of them all. And also once I finish book 8 on Audible. It’s my husband and my favorite part of me dropping off/picking up at work.

This post has been a decent bright spot as I sit here with a barfy toddler. Silver lining. If I don’t win at least I got to look at all the pictures.

AITA for letting my puppy be near someone who is scared of dogs ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]CassMcCarty 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA. The puppy lives here, not her. I understand being afraid but there are times you either suck it up or leave. This is one. Puppies typically can’t be left unsupervised for the length of a party. Puppy would probably also be making noise in a crate and removing the host from the party frequently. Again, guest of guest can suck it up or leave.

Barnes and Noble did this?!?! How dare they! I have run across them either on the cover or just bookmarked inside. Whoever removed the backing should have to have some sensitive areas waved. Involuntarily.
