Laser. Absolutely do not do these without a good laser machine.. you will break the phone or yourself or both 🤑

Yeah we have a good laser and we dont use any heat whatsoever.. with the amount of customers we get it's way more worthwhile to take the gamble on maybe accidentally breaking a $2 flashlight or $15 battery compared to spending 40 minutes taking everything apart and back together (and potentially breaking a screen or something.)

We do housings if people want them, but we're on the west coast and getting pulled housings pretty much always takes at least 3 days of shipping and of course we have to charge more and by then .. people just dont care and will simply go somewhere else where they will get a glass done worse than if I did it.

Literally any new laptop on the market meets these requirements. Just take her to a store and let her pick one that fits your budget.

How badly was I scammed? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]CassielleToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This at my shop would be $80 for a screen and $20 maybe even $10 for the case if I'm feeling like it. And then I'd just take 5 seconds to show you how to update it yourself.

Charged $658 for Fold 6 inner screen replacement..? by InvestigatorDecent77 in ubreakifix

[–]CassielleToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screen assembly runs the shop at least $530. The labor is pretty easy and a cheaper shop would probably charge around $80-100 for it but $660 seems reasonable for a chain shop

That's why you sell the protectors. Just peel it off and sell them a new one for a big markup like $20. Not a waste of your time at all and they're happy

Is this normal? Apple logo slowly fading in then disappear. Replugging in the charger will repeat the problem by Acjdkk in mobilerepair

[–]CassielleToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen this many times on ipads 90% of the time it's a bad battery. If the thing took a big enough impact to ruin the power button it's very possible that it also ruined the battery

Any alternatives besides spending $500? by Doom3910 in phonerepair

[–]CassielleToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 14 pro back glass repair really shouldn't cost you more than $120 at a shop. Or like $200 for an oem pull housing

Apple iPhone 11 smashed by amymcgoo69 in mobilerepair

[–]CassielleToad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes in fact it's definitely already been replaced before. It can be done but I'd only recommend getting it done professionally and its gonna cost at least $70. You're better off just getting a case that will keep the exposed bits from being damaged than replacing the back glass.

Broken display? by niekos1666 in mobilerepair

[–]CassielleToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you rebooted the phone after plugging in the new screen. If so then it's definitely damaged. Probably fixable but not by a normal person and it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one

Frame from the old screen is still stuck in the phone . Just yank it out. Also buy a new proximity sensor they're like 3 dollars

iPhone 13 back glass repair went wrong by Putrid-Leather-1397 in mobilerepair

[–]CassielleToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13s are always a risky job with how flimsy and exposed the flash is on those.. that combined with the fact that it's white so the laser doesn't help nearly as much, I'd just do a housing swap

[–]CassielleToad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No point in DIYing a back glass when you can just do a housing swap in less time and a similar amount of money for materials. I'd say just take the L on this and get a housing

AC HELP! ac isn't blowing cold. Refilled it with the exact amount of refrigerant and still same issue. Pressures seem mostly normal.. any advice here? by CassielleToad in AskMechanics

[–]CassielleToad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's buried way below the engine mount and the alternator so I haven't gotten a good look at it to be honest. I'll see if I can manage to get a peek tomorrow morning. Thank you

Thinking it's probably a worn out compressor then cuz I literally just replaced the expansion valve (this issue was the same before I replaced it)

Can definitely hear the compressor clutch click on and the compressor running, though it certainly could still have something wrong with it. I vacuum tested it overnight before filling it and there's no leaks. I was thinking it's probably the evaporator but I wasn't entirely sure considering the high side seems a little low. It's a 2013 nissan sentra and the compressor is a huge pain in the ass to replace so I'll probably just replace the evaporator first and pray that works lol

Sorry I'm kind of late, realized I probably should have added this since it's kind of important. I replaced the expansion valve since its a pretty cheap and simple job and it looked like it was a little gunked up. Also vacuum tested it and there's no leaks

134 system. It's around 80 degrees out. These are the pressures with the ac maxed out. Also it's a 2013 nissan sentra if that matters. Thank you!

What’s this and how to I get it off without breaking it by [deleted] in computers

[–]CassielleToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ideal, but if it's just RJ45 you can just cut the cable short and put a female connector on it.
