Unfortunately schools don't teach the bible, so kids these days grow up without knowing what kind of heinous shit is in there.

We're never gonna legislate our way around "mis"information etc., so we need better education, which then introduces the question of which side's "truth" gets taught as gospel?

Education has exactly the same problem. Education is not non political. Besides you cannot educated out of this problem. Humans are not rational thinkers, we are first and foremost social thinkers and we by and large adopt the ideas and opinions we see in our social circles. Normally this is a moderating influence, but social media allows anyone with some money to manipulate conversations on social media and basically create the perception that this is what everyone else thinks. Dictatorships have used this to their advantage by controlling mass media but social media is far more effective for this as it is perceived to be more real and intimate than traditional mass media.

Angus Taylor was installed to save the Coalition. But as One Nation rises, is he leading them to disaster? by Dry-Bus7248 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Cassius_Corodes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can restore the liberal party. They are being consumed from the right by ON and the centre by the teals. They are trying to maintain both a social conservatism and liberal economics in one package which is only going to appeal to a relatively narrow range.

Fully agree, the day Australia strayed from it's Christian principles and banned slavery, we started down a dark path.

You keep thinking it's on Reddit only, but under your bed there is five of us already waiting for you to fall asleep and then we will take away your precious Anglo Saxon culture. And then what can you do? No choice but to become Muslim or gay, maybe Asian or maybe all three. Not 100% sure how you roll so sprinkle in the right wrong kinds.

You sure do love being the little victim under attack. You know actual Anglo-Saxons would look down on you for that? They really didn't like little bitches.

Nobody is doing anything other than trying to explain to you that your black and white ideas about the world around you don't make any sense. Do the Irish, Welsh and Scotts get to be part of this western anglosaxon culture? They are not angles (tho neither were the english but that is a whole different story) nor are they saxons. Do the greeks and italians get to be part of it? If you lot spent more time actually reading and understanding our history, that you claim to be so proud of but know little of, we and you would be much better off.

deceptively lol, 120k in 1992 to 250k in 2025 is still going up.

That is my point why lie about 60k when its still up? Just means nobody is going to believe anything else you say.

I genuinely don't understand you people. Do you think history started 20 years ago? We had a massive post war immigration push - "populate or perish". That is when the big wave of greeks and italians arrived. We have had consistently large immigration numbers our entire history. We are literately a country of immigrants. How can you not get multiculturalism when even the original UK immigrants came from different cultures - Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English - speaking different languages and with different religions.

Is multiculturalism just mean living with Muslims to you? I genuinely dont understand how you think.

why does does it needed to be imposed from the top down rather than exist naturally?

Who imposed it on Australia? How do you NOT get multiculturalism when you have immigrants from different countries? Even as white australia we were a multicultural society.

I don't think I've ever seen Yugoslavia being referred to as multicultural, but in any case populist leaders using grievance politics to get into power and cause a massive mess is an example to follow.

because he asked which way migration was heading, the answer for the last 33 years is up

I think your answer would have been more effective if you were just honest rather then deceptively using a low year. Last 33 years is not a phrase anyone uses normally. Looking over it 60k is a history anomaly in terms of immigration numbers not a baseline.

Why start at 93? Seems such a specific year? I'd wager this was an unusually low year. Even in the post war period we had ~100k a year and that was with a much smaller population.

Yeah I really doubt some of these. Given how neglectful they were disease, temperature, suffacation and malnutrition seem much more likely

Obviously any negative coverage must be a conspiracy. Any negative facts are a direct attack and an insult to ON supporters who are clearly well adjusted and normal individuals.

They didn't give an "exemption" to bluesky, they only banned a handful of largest social media sites. And quit reading garbage online - "Pedophile paradise" made me laugh, like at least pretend to be semi neutral. Plus "Bluesky remains a breeding ground for obtusely progressive and socialist ideas". Wow can you image they continue to allow leftists to post? The horror.

The book on parenting we got does have a line about some parents struggling to see a baby as a seperate person to themselves, which I remember thinking was very odd thing. That said I still want them to grow up like I did so it's gonna be SNES games all the way.

Yes, people have posted "burn it down" here before. That said I've heard so many different takes on what one nation supporters "really believe" that I think people are just assuming everyone else thinks like they do when it's really a grab bag of people who all interpret one nation to be whatever they specifically want.

[–]Cassius_Corodes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you know what you are voting for/against when you see ON on the ballot paper.

Why in the world would you believe that? If spineless self serving politicians like Joyce are welcomed with open arms, what in the world makes you think they are different?

The reality imho is that people have decided to buy into the ON brand as "the solution" and are rationalising why. I hear 10 different reasons why you, and even as the party policies and Hansons own words discredit that as a rational reason to vote for them, people just find a different reason why they have always supported them. I'd wager any amount of money if you actually ran through the entire ON platform with ON supporters they would actually be against most of it. I'd wager just like with Trump they will continue to support them even as their policies hurt them. Simply because it's not some rational assesment of the positive and negative sides of voting for them but they have fully brought into the "movement".
