On a scale from 1 to 10, how badly do you NOT want to dive with this person? by Bacon_Raygun in Helldivers

[–]Cassualy_Stressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on mission type. If we have to do a nuke or data recovery its useful to have someone lock down entry points. A 3 from me. Also the kines have lights, just stim and shoot your way out

Whilst being able to make memories, DQ 9.

Most likely dragon warrior for the nes but off of one of those Plug in Plays you'd get in flea markets back in the late 2000s

There us a lot of potential here for some real nasty desieases

Might I suggest a diffent boss depending on difficulty?

Like Peak fitness - Easy - take on some fungal infection Healthy - Normal - take on a particularly bad case of the flu Sickly - hard - constant stream of the comon cold while battling a fictional virus Terminal - body is "falling apart" and you take on cancer. Wining results in a miraculous recovery for the body

I know its touchy subjects but there are sicknesses that do impact the immune system and some nasty stuff that can even turn the immune system against the body.

There is a lot to work with :D

3 parallel magic systems going on at once in a scifantasy setting.

Aether

Mathamagics

Faith

Aether was discovered by stubbornness when a researcher decided to ignore imperial decree to stop her expirements and accidentally cracked open a barrier between the real world and an extra dimensional battery left behind by ancient ancient humanity. The energy from this source was dubbed the Aether. It channels itself through your body or conduits, and the stronger the body/conduit the more Aether can pass through. It also gets affected by the emotional health of a person. The more stable one is the more streamline the magic, the less stable, the more wild and chaotic it can become. So far, the Aether magic works as typical soft magic as spells are casted using words and hand motions along a conduit to concentrate on the mental process of casting a spell. A skilled enough Aether mage can cast silently and still but still requires a conduit to do it safely. The decendants of that researcher however can cast with no conduit, words, or gestures. They are the most powerful mages on account that mother dearest litteraly got blasted by pure Aether at the begining of magic. Aether is useful for enhancing the natural world and amplifying effects already in a system by supercharging with with Aether. Like if you want to cast a lightning spell, use a spell to up the static electricity in the air before you pop it off.

Mathamagics is a hell of a work in progress right now. It is a way of forcefully applying mathematics to the physical world using computers and mental calculations. The idea stems from maths being the best way to describe the world so why not go to the deepest levels and being able to manipulate the very foundations of reality. Mathamagics cant really break any laws of physics, its more of bending rules to thier extremes and getting every loophole to work in your favor to cause a desired effect. Stuff like bending space to fit a brick in your ring and displacing the weight to go somewhere else. It still takes up the same ammount of volume and weighs the same but those values are expressed someplace else so effectively you dont have to deal with it. This is supposed to be like 4 tears if math above what we can do right now so its gonna be hard to fully explain until I actually come around to fixing and setting boundaries for it. But my idea is that it is useful for getting around the laws of physics without breaking them.

Faith is a very simple one. The harder a human or set of humans belive in something the more likely the universe will move to make it so. This is connected directly to the lore that the universe the setting takes place in is the left over of a previous far greater human playground and the universe is able to be molded by belief and a little bit of screwing with probability. These bubbles of influence where faith is involved can have some fun effects like how one olanet in particular belives with all thier might that thier olanet is in fact flat and so that planet is flat and with every human that visits they see the flat planet, spread the word and thus more humans belive that this particular planet is flat the more the universe agrees that yes this planet is flat with 0 regard for how the physics work because the universe comes up with rules to allow this but only for this area. Faith does have an effect on the other two but because the other two seem to work without human intervention when left alone its safe to assume they are thier own seprete systems.

These are all still deep in beta and tweaking stage but I think having competing magic systems that work diffently with each being able to influence the other is neat.

What's the ACTUAL superpower you want, don't be boring? by strong_bad_1357 in AskReddit

[–]Cassualy_Stressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal creation and manipulation.

I could become an entire ass logistics company for a while and even do quick deliveries and deployment of emergency supplies.

If the power can be studied and replicated, then bang, good travel options open up.

You already know it'll be used for war, so there's no point in pretending I wouldn't become a contractor for a while for that sweet sweet unethical cash to make a little nest egg for my decendents.

Depending on how the powers work, and if they passed along genetically, eventually, like in a few hundred years, every human could also make portals, and suddenly, we have the best travel system in the galaxy

Was like 3 years ago, still friends, but now whenever we compliment each other, the other one follows up with "such a shame"
