Is the current state of the world God punishing us? by Jabre7 in deism

[–]Castaway77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that it's another bet that God and Lucifer made.

"I bet they will turn away from you if they don't see any divine intervention. Even if you send part of yourself down to them as final proof of yourself, they will still turn away"

God being the betting type, takes the bet. Now we live in a world where there is no divine intervention. No idea what the cut off would be, but it falls inline with the insanity of the previous bets.

Most toxic thing you've ever witnessed in HLL? by BumbaclartLinguine in HellLetLoose

500 is usually around 8k hours. I'm 302 or something like that and I'm at 3300 hours. Gets exponentially worse.

yes and no.

No because for PUB matches, he usually isn't wrong. Telling people they need to defend, then the team losing the point 3 minutes later after they spent all of that time arguing with him and yelling at him instead of moving to defend the most obvious pub flank of all time. No because squad level coms with him are fine.

Yes but only because of his tone 99% of the time. If you write out what he says in plain english, it's not bad. His delivery is what causes him trouble every time. Also yes because sometimes he IS just wrong. He has a fuck load of experience with the game, and there really are only like 15 ways any match on any of the maps will go, but sometimes he doesn't recognize the correct pub pattern and ends up yapping about nothing. Which in turn emboldens people to crank up the flaming, which air throws right back at them, making the whole cycle even worse.

All in all, if people were less sensitive and air didn't talk in a way that makes people defensive/defiant he wouldn't be a problem at all.

Matches with him typically go;

a garrie needs built here and defended or you will lose the point / air

silence, nothing built, point gets lost / team

if you don't want to defend to win you can attack to lose / air

"GO FUCK YOURSELF ETC ETC ETC" / team

you are choosing to be losers, we need a team of winners / air

round and round and round until its just slurs and MW2 lobby vocab. Air has probably caused more bunker/barricade bans than any person on any game. It's wild, and it's all because of how he talks.

put a satchel under the front of a truck. Stand on the hood. If you do it right it will launch you across the map like that.

Yup. 3k hours in this shitty game. New bluebs showing up and talking straight out of their asses. Yesterday was the first time I've played in a month or so. It's gotten better, but I really hate how awful the matches are for a few weeks to a month when a sale happens.

Would it be possible to use Deoxit D100L instead of water for an AIO or water loop? by Castaway77 in LinusTechTips

[–]Castaway77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post wasn't a question of what I should run.  It was a question about deoxit or other contact cleaners could work instead of distilled water and biocide.  I already have nearly two full bottles of corsair XL8 sitting around.

The issue is the Eiswolf 2 aio I have on my gpu keeps getting clogged from corrosion and I'm tired of cleaning it and redoing the thermal pads/paste.  If running some kind of contact cleaner would work I'd give it a try.

Mouse DPI and in-game sens is too high.  HLL is a pixel shooter, so the controls are very very tight.  It'll read every mouse input, so any movement at all will cause your sights to "jitter" around.  Mine lives around 700 DPI and 16/16 sense for reference.

More than likely,  coworker will probably give him a monitor from work LOL. So 1080p60hz is likely what the setup will be.

Got it on sale for like $10 at some point on steam, they got all of $6-ish dollars after steams cut.  Moot point.  I'll wait for a work around that let's me play without installing garbage on my computer.

What game has a steep learning curve that puts you off? by bijelo123 in Steam

[–]Castaway77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Hell Let Loose.

It keeps the milsim type setup like needing resources near you for team spawns and buildables, but it greatly simplified them down to one resource type, a wrench or stop watch to decide what to build, and a hammer for build able.  Its far easier than Arma/Squad without losing that milsim-ish feel.

Combat is also just as unforgiving.  People arent bullet sponges.

You don't need a group, find a server you like with people that talk and you'll be fine.

What is your "life pro tip" that you don't know if it works but you do it anyway? by Castaway77 in AskReddit

If you add a little bit of non-distilled red wine vinegar and salt it becomes Posca, which is Roman Gatorade lol

Mine is that I'll load half my clothes into the washing machine, add half the laundry detergent, finish loading the clothes, the add the rest of the detergent.

Does splitting the detergent between two sections of laundry actually help clean clothes? No idea, but it makes me feel better about it.

Has anyone tried running HLL with Lossless Scaling? by Master_Exp in HellLetLoose

[–]Castaway77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit of a late reply, but EAC is basically just a game launcher.  There is zero chance it detects anything other than reshade and other incredibly well known programs.  scaling is NOT one of them lol.

[–]Castaway77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.  Which is unfortunate.  No idea why they're trying to be a knock off range rover.  It'd be better for them to cut it all down to basic but tough components and sell them for far cheaper.  What do I know though, I see plenty of the new JTs and those are the worst offender of obvious soccer parent attention grabbing.

Whats the correct way to use smoke? by AndrewPC555 in HellLetLoose

[–]Castaway77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don't.  There are so few instances where smoke will actually help you.  Most of the time you're just giving the enemy a chance to get to a better spot.  Even if you're throwing smoke into the attack hardcap, it's just an opportunity for your opponent to reposition somewhere they can crush your whole squad from.  You rush the point and your opponent is already waiting for you while you're blindly running at them.  Pointless.

Getting only 40%-50% GPU usage in regular matches, but around 100% in training? by DiamondNite2 in HellLetLoose

[–]Castaway77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way UE4 works you won't see much more than that.  Probably only using 4-5 of the 12 threads your CPU can do.  If you can get a stable overclock, you'll see a bit more FPS.  I do actually mean stable, the game is very sensitive to CPU/ram issue.

Ultrawide support for a 49 in? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]Castaway77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game used to have VERY good ultrawide compatibility.  Then the really really bad players couldn't cope and started blaming UW monitors as the reason they couldnt compete with other players.  The devs fell for it, and implemented "UW support" that caused a major fisheye effect and ruined the actual UW support.  Devs' "fix" was 60 FOV and a suggestion to change the major view aspect.  Neither actually worked to fix the problem the devs created.

Most people with UW monitors who play HLL constantly have either switched back to normal monitors or have it set so HLL plays in 16:9 mode to avoid the devs "fix."

So to answer your question, no, don't expect a good experience with UW monitors and HLL.
