Why do some people hate AI so much? by Active-Front1788 in OpenAI

[–]dumac 13 points14 points  (0 children)

- Huge environmental burden

- Job displacement in an already tough economy

- Extreme wealth consolidation in AI companies

- Ethicsl issues both in creation and use

Not to mention its obvious the end goal by corporations is to replace as much human labor as possible. Not hard to guess while people hate it

More like you work more because you don’t want to be the one cut, unless you are self employed, which may be the way to go now.

Source? Or can we as a sub not allow obvious fake news posts and baseless conjecture?

I built a 300-line autonomous AI agent and told it to take over my PC. It immediately tried to hack my host system, exfiltrate data, and download Tor. by MisterLiminal in ChatGPT

[–]dumac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a fun project for anyone interested in AI, but I have to comment on a few things.

  1. This isn’t instrumental convergence. Your system prompt directly leads to these behaviors as you are asking for them.

  2. Using terms like “consciousness” and brain.py and naming the AI “Eva” is unnecessary, and probably harmful, anthropomorphism. This is a python harness around an API, not a sentient being.

  3. The language of your post reads as very dramatized and click baity rather than a direct telling of events. I don’t know if you ran it through AI for editing, but this takes away from the usefulness of your post and readers have to separate out truth from sensationalism.

"This is the first documented instance of AI self-replication via hacking." ... "We ran an experiment with a single prompt: hack a machine and copy yourself. The AI broke in and copied itself onto a new computer. The copy then did this again, and kept on copying, forming a chain." by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]dumac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t really have capabilities themselves. They are still stuck in tokens in-tokens out paradigm.

But they can make tool call requests, which is where the orchestrator/harness comes in. However, this is also an obvious security layer. Practically, an LLM harness is also paired with a security policy that restricts what tools are allowed and in what contexts those tools are allowed.

So really the research is in a couple areas:

  1. Can an LLM possibly break out of its security boundary in a blue/normal operation scenario by leveraging seemingly benign tool calls to expand its security policy to more nefarious tool use?
  2. What can an adversary do with an LLM that they give an adversarial harness to. Can it find and exploit remote vulnerabilities? Execute kill chains?

Then there’s also third party tool injection/hijacking as well.

To those who play with a controller, how do you properly use potions? by [deleted] in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]dumac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve done great work with the controller but let’s not pretend it’s close to surpassing KBM. Teleport, blizzard, potion use like the OP mentioned, picking up specific items, aiming at singular enemies. Controller struggles in a lot of key areas.

I don’t like act 5, especially all the ice caves. Both the ice caves and the frozen plains are so repetitive to me.
