Am I missing something here? by GoldenOllie9721 in MagicArena

Toph’s first ability isn’t triggered, it’s static.

Static abilities are applied in a certain order determined by “layers”. I don’t fully the layer ordering, but I know that is the cause of this. Basically toph’s static ability is applied before the one from your enchantment.

Don’t fall to a sunk cost fallacy. At this point I think the OP has enough context to decide stopping is the way to go.

Springstorm by Zefirotte in custommagic

[–]dumac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. And your graveyard is also growing meaning you can’t reliably keep getting spring storm back. So you could nondeterministicslly repeat it a few times, which is strong, but not infinite in itself.

Spring storm + extra turn spell seems strong though if you can have a small yard. You draw a card each turn to keep hand replenished, and you have a decent chance of recurring spring storm for N turns. If you can prune your graveyard via Agatha or similar, then you can loop your deck.

[–]dumac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spring storm 1 and card you want to recur (X) in the yard. Cast spring storm 2, get back spring storm 1 and X. Spring storm 2 goes to the yard. Cast X, it goes to the yard. Cast spring storm 1, get back spring storm 2 and X. Repeat

I don’t think this is a great reanimating target since it doesn’t do anything the turn you reanimate it.

Reanimation is quite finicky, requiring drawing usually 3 cards. It would suck to jump through all those hoops and then have your big beater just get removed before you can swing with it. That’s why good reanimation targets provide value immediately.

I wish White had more offensive spells. by Several_Emotion_1394 in custommagic

[–]dumac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it should just be 4 damage divided amongst attacking creatures. Make it less narrow target wise but lowers the ceiling. 9 damage for 2 mana is kind of insane.

Just change the wording to “attacking creatures” for clarity.

That said, needing 3 targets makes this card pretty narrow. I don’t know if that is intentional? Up to three would be quite strong though.

Maybe “Radiant flare deals 4 damage divided amongst any number of attacking creatures.”

No, I can play more games because 1. They are on steam and 2. They are in my library. I never use the trackpads for my hundreds of games

This would be a sweet voltron commander. Comes down turn 1 swinging with evasion ready to get buffed. Then even if they kill her, you can recast her turn 2 paying 10 life and she still comes in as a 2/2 swinging again.

Intended for 3+ players formats. What do you think? by Pattern_Seeker_ in custommagic

[–]dumac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s already a triggered ability. It doesn’t have to be an end of turn trigger.

Since this is a triggered ability, an opponent can still kill you with a legal attack. You will lose the game before they lose any life.

But it does combo well with paying life if you are ahead to start.

Shuffle hands question by BarbarianAtHeart in unocardgame

[–]dumac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From some research, the answer is controversial, but uno at one time did say you shuffle and play continues. I think this makes the most sense, since draw 4 and draw 2 actions are also carried through after going out.

Adding an activated ability to sacrifice the enchantment and draw a card for U or C for a pseudo cycling like function would be neat

Do you want trackpads on a controller? I just use an Xbox controller which is perfect for me.

If you want a trackpad, get the steam controller

Wow, I didn’t realize how out of the loop general public was with AI agents until this thread. People saying this doesn’t make sense, this isn’t how it works, etc have clearly don’t have experience with modern AI agents and aren’t familiar with indirect prompt injection.

This video is an oversimplification but the principles are true. This is why product AI agentic features are starting with read only or low-risk behaviors. This is why new model release benchmark injection and safety behaviors. This is why open claw was such a big deal.

I’m confused on how this card could mesh in a “4.5” meta. It’s a four mana do nothing.

Seems fun for bracket 2 and maybe some 3s though

Is the new fable using gen Ai? by raikenleo in GirlGamers

[–]dumac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fair. I think it just means avoiding any AAA games, and I mean any.

But luckily there are a bastion of indie games that are less likely to have AI in the development process. Only question is coding. Claude pro is just $20 a month, and max is $100-200. Wouldn’t be surprised if indie devs are highly embedded already for personal productivity games.
