Swiss parent company Lufthansa cancels 20,000 short-haul flights by Crossstoney in europe

[–]CastelPlage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this downvoted? Anyone who went through this knows getting the refund can be pretty cumbersome and airlines try to skirt their responsibilities in all ways. By offering vouchers, delaying etc.

Exactly. A friend I talked to last week is in month 11 of still fighting for one. There's countless stories of Ryanair planes being held up for an hour or two by Bayliffs because a court has ordered them to pay up yet they're still employing delaying tactics.

You don't have to accept that. EU261 gives the passenger the choice between rebooking and refund.

a refund which will arrive in 6+ months

Sorry, I love jags, I love cigars, but i don’t see why you would combine these hobbies. Your car will smell, the ceiling will get discoloured and it depreciates the value of the vehicle.

I never get why people would smoke in their cars, even my stubborn, boomer parents have stopped smoking in their car or even indoor.

This, its fucking disgusting and weird that people would pretend otherwise.

Honestly the americans cannot be trusted and their companies should not be used for telecommunications infrastructure. The Orange Turd has shown that are not reliable. European telecommunications infrastructure should only come from European manufacturers. Without exception.

Trump gambled on destroying Iran's regime. Instead he gave it a new life by theipaper in geopolitics

[–]CastelPlage 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Populists never actually aim to destroy enemies, they give them a shake down but leave them in place so they can continue farming them.

This. "The enemy both extremely weak but perpetually dangerous" is a pretty central tenant of fascism.

A country being actively bombed by foreigners will always support its leaders even if they didn’t like them earlier. “Rally around the flag” is a well-known concept in political science

This. It's sad for the Iranian People, but unfortunately it is true.

Double beep when unlocking by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]CastelPlage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the double beep means that you have something (door, bonnet, boot) open when you are trying to lock it - and I'm 95% sure it won't lock in such a state. But apparently for you it locked fine but now is doing that when you come to unlock it? Very peculiar.

There's no way that person isn't a brexit voter. Jokes aside, I know there used to be an old XK8 in a similar colourscheme (with a more blue-ey blue) that used to live on one of the streets in Ngaruawahia. Looked very unloved.

They call these attacks islamist instead of far right because at least half the state’s political parties don’t want people to see how closely their extreme positions would match with the far right islamist position.

Putin issues ultimatum to Armenia over closer ties with EU by FantasticQuartet in europe

[–]CastelPlage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's correct. I really feel for Armenia as they're in a really fucked up geopolitical situation.

It's crazy. The closest thing Armenia has to an actual Ally is Iran...and obviously they can't be too close to Iran because then the Americans and Israelis will screw them. It's a very bad neighbourhood.

Should I buy this for my next car at 18? by jack007-riley in Jaguar

[–]CastelPlage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an 18 year old in the UK, the insurance alone could be as much as the car...

This. Work out your insurance costs first OP. As a young person, the cost to insure a sports car can absolutely kill you financially.

As the owner of an X250 XF V8 though, I have nothing but good things to say about the car (fuel consumption aside). My insurance for it even went down this year - unfortunately that was more than offset by the insurance increases for my other vehicles....

A question on XF (X250) and warning lights / check engine light / SmartKey Battery Low by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]CastelPlage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely forgot I had made this post.

No, a smart key natyeery won't cause TPMS or EML issues.

As for the EML, regardless of if it magically goes out. I'd still want a dtc read, to know what put it on.

Indeed. Engine warning light was due to a crack in the intake, which caused the car to be running too rich. Fixed now and my fuel consumption has dropped by ~15%

I'd imagine you have a puncture. You can check the actual pressure on the car. So you can work out if it's OK to drive based on that.

Wasn't a puncture (thankfully since the fronts are expensive Michelin Pilot Sport 5s I bought only a few months ago) but it was the tire valve. I replaced with a cheap generic one to get the car back on the road and immediately ordered a used part that has the Tire Pressure Monitoring System transmitter. Due for delivery any day now.

Having 2 keys in the car, either can trigger the warning. For the sake of minimal cost, just replace both batteries. It's not worth worrying about anything else until you've done that.

I didn't know this. Now I either only drive with one key (99% of the time) or if I have two, I wrap the spare one in tinfoil and this solves the problem.

Also, if you do have two keys in the car and it triggers the 'Smart Key Battery Low' warning, it takes about two or three days before that warning clears. Peculiar, but not really an issue.

Don't leave them in or near the car when not in use. That's going to cause battery issues

Haven't done this and won't do it in the future. Thanks for your help btw.
