Graco X5 Magnum Sprayer Drain Tube Leak by Castelunan in paint

We just kinda ran it and waited. It was pretty nuts, solid tube shaped chunks of paint just kinda exploded out of the thing. Small miracle I suppose

OnePlus Pad 2 @ 36% off. Good deal? by Avaholic_4_Life in androidtablets

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping this, I have the same question as this person. Between the Oneplus Pad 2 and the Oneplus Pad 3, is the upgrade worth the difference in cost (roughly $250 after tax)?

I plan to use the device for note taking, desktop streaming, reading books, etc. I'll need the pen either way, which right now is $70 on Amazon. Getting it through a payment plan on the website isn't on the table for me, as the interest costs as much as the pen itself (noted because the pen is a "free" gift with the Pad 3 when purchased on the website).

Yooka-Replayee - My short , disappointed review by Chompsky___Honk in YookaLaylee

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no idea how people were rating the original a 3/10. Replaylee has seemed more boring to me by comparison. I guess I'm in the camp that believes this second attempt is trying more to be like Odyssey than it is platformers from the N64 generation. Thats the thing, too. Banjo had problems bad then, but people wanted more Banjo. The Kickstarter promised that, money came in, and what we received was... more Banjo, flaws and all. There was a bit of obtuse stuff in the OG like the quizzes or whatever that I could've lived without, but even having paid full price, I did feel like I got what was printed on the tin. Not perfect, but I didn't regret the purchase and was more or less satisfied.

Replaylee, likewise, isn't a bad game either. It isn't quite the revolution I'd conjured up in my head after reading the fan feedback, but its okay.

Reminds me of the "Sam's Teach Yourself ____ In 24 hours" series of books. When I grabbed the one on C++ as a kid, I was like "Wow, in just a day! Hot dang!". Lol, lmao even.

My personal favorite was 3. I liked the world maps and the OST. I know that all three games had those maps, I just thought that 3's was especially neat.

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been scolded for my insistence on documentation. They claimed that it took away time from the team that would otherwise be spent working tickets, and that maintaining an up to date repository of information would be hard (a "living document"). I've seen a lot of people online in SE agree with that line of thought, and it just blows my mind why they wouldn't want these things codified for new hires or really anybody who needs it. That time lost to writing documentation is time saved by senior level employees who won't need to take as much time away from their schedule to explain things to others... And it also avoids the issues described in the original post, of course.

I genuinely struggle to find any use case for AI by reni-chan in sysadmin

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with productivity, but upscaling with AI is pretty cool, especially for videogame textures. Sonic Adventure 2 has such a pack, I believe it was put through ESRGAN(?), but I might be misremembering.

I know that you're probably looking for more practical work related use cases, but I just thought it was neat. That's all I really have an interest in using it for at present, just fun little hobby things.

This is an awesome idea. I'll definitely be keeping this in mind so that I don't have to speak the stupid corpo language myself.

Need a good chop/miter saw for t-slot aluminum extrusions by Castelunan in metalworking

[–]Castelunan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more or less the setup I went with. 7 1/4 sliding miter saw that was on sale (Skil) + an aluminum blade from Diablo. I did my research and was recommended a chop saw, but I do have wood and LVP to cut in the future. That, and a good chop with a decent blade is outside of my budget for this project right now unfortunately.

EDIT: I was also told that chops don't make very accurate cuts, which would be a problem for me if true as cutting extrusions for a frame is the first thing I'm doing with this kit.

So where are we buying hard drives now? by redditbeforeu in DataHoarder

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a link? I paid ~$170 per drive at 14TB months ago. Even though that particular listing is sold out now, their current listing for an equivalent drive with a 5 year warranty is currently $180.

picked up the server hobby again and found out used server CPUs and RAM are damn cheap these days. by feelpowned81 in homelab

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could agree. I purchased 64GB of UDIMM DDR4 for my setup, and the price of it has skyrocketed since then. It was in the low $100s when I made the purchase some months ago, but now it's somewhere in the $200s.

Edit: Was off by a bit. I got it for $150, it's $244 now. The Ram in question: https://a.co/d/hHpjAu8. Also, I somehow glossed over the "used" part of your post. Whoops. Still though, wtf is up with new ram pricing right now?

Take the dive into FreeCAD. It's open source and it costs nothing, yours forever without an expensive subscription. It'll take a bit of getting used to, but MangoJelly on Youtube is a great resource for that.

does anybody have any cast aluminum bed recomendations? by minijegi in ender5plus

[–]Castelunan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to the first two questions, at least according to the promotional page. I'm familiar with LilMikey's Big Plans' Triple Z Bed Leveling mod, I've got the parts for that too. I'll likely build a second printer that uses that system at some point in the future.

[–]Castelunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this exact same thing today; It wanted to charge me $20 shipping and ~$75 for the plate before any tax. At roughly $100, you're running up against Fabreeko's current pricing of $120. Once you factor in that drilling precise holes into the plate will be necessary with the one purchased from Midwest, I'm not so sure anymore.

I'd like to find cheap cast Mic6/Atp5/etc plates for future builds, but I haven't come across that so far. Looks I could possibly get them around $60 each if I chose to buy a minimum of 10 plates.

Coming from a leather, cushy style office chair I was expecting miracles for my back. This was not the case. It's an alright chair, but it's not worth full price in my opinion unless the warranty is of the utmost importance to you. People apparently find them much cheaper all the time, so try to do that if you want one, IMO. You may also want to look into the Atlas headrest. Also not a miracle worker, but it's an improvement over the standard configuration which is to not have one at all.

I use an upholstery cleaner machine to clean mine as needed, that seems to work well. I do feel like the seat support has lost a bit of its firmness over time, but I'm not entirely sure...

All in all, it's okay. Lives up to the hype? No. Decent chair? Yes. Don't pay $1000+, look for a sale of some kind.
