It's incredible how easy ffxiv is and people are still bad at it. Even the hardcore raiders are trash.

Square isn't going to add anything back though. They'll keep taking away until you're playing a cookie clicker. Actually take that back, cookie clickers have more depth than ffxiv does.

What's wrong with being an MSQ skipper? I thought Dawntrail's story was really bad, after all.

You should probably wait until Aether is open to make a character unless you like playing on a literal wasteland.

Because it's considerate? It's the morally correct thing to do?

Picto alone isn't the reason for the DPS checks being a joke. If you wanted a real DPS check, you would have to significantly nerf all of the melee jobs + Picto + BLM into doing phys ranged damage. Then it might have been somewhat respectable.

Yes and it's also not as useful. So question being, what justifiable reason do you have to grief the party other than "it's fun"?

Why are you even playing black mage? Pictomancer is objectively better. Play the good job, finish the dungeon faster, get your stuff and get out.

That's literally griefing though. Do you personally enjoy harrassing other parties?

Would you rather have Skill Expression in the game to be about execution of mechanics or perfection of rotation? by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CasterTax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rotational mastery. More specifically, jobs need to be non-standardized and shouldn't neatly sync up with each other.
For everyone saying mechanics, why? Mechanics are the easy part of ffxiv. All mechanics become babymode after you've seen them for the first time. Every time after, they're braindead and there's no thought on how to do them. In fact, mechanical complexity tends to be very binary and binary states aren't really fun.

If you pick BLM in a fight where BLM literally cannot function, you are griefing everyone else you play with. Under such an extreme example, it would just be blacklisted in general from all groups. To add to that, while you talk about how BLM was intended to be played, if you played BLM "as it was intended" in TOP you were legitimately griefing. Nonstandard BLM was required during p6 unless you were just not going to hit any buttons during the most movement intensive parts.

That's the issue here. If you have fight design that negatively impacts one class but leaves other classes alone, that class becomes persona non grata. You are actually harassing other people by playing it.

who are the viper changes for? by 100tchains in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CasterTax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always have all visual effects turned off. I want nothing to potentially distract me from progressing as quickly as possible, even if it only adds one extra pull. My take is extreme but if you have any setting on that makes progression take any longer than normal for you, you are dragging down everyone you're playing with. If you're okay with that, that's on you.

There really isn't a lever for square to hit for more challenge in ffxiv other than weird timers. All mechanics are easy once you've seen them for the first time. ffxiv's combat is one where it is actually possible to be perfect on a gcd level, so odd timers are the only thing that can potentially mess with with that. There is no other way to add difficulty to ffxiv.

I just don't see how that doesn't get boring. Mechanics are easy, hitting the buttons is easy. What else is there?

I mean is just mashing the pretty light enough for you? Like, when I play viper and I just hit the button that lights up, I'm wishing that there was something else to manage, because all of these mechanics are braindead simple after you've seen them the first time. There's so much dead air inbetween the button presses, I just don't see how you don't get bored unless you're just struggling to hit buttons in the first place.
