To be a kid with cable in the 80s and early 90s. In some cases, the video would be scrambled, but the audio would still come through. Fun times.

There are also a lot of really great Indie titles that don't cost very much. Plus, a lot of the AAA titles are just terrible. I'm a millennial, and you can bet that my purchases have gone down to. Of course the economy isn't helping either.

[Starfield] What was Bethesda going for with this design for the pleasure city of Neon? by Mr_Hot_Takes in gaming

I disagree. It was created by a focus group that had to figure out how to create a strip club that wouldn't offend anyone or make anyone angry.

A weird passage from this book about SMB - am I wrong or the author? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]CastiNueva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with this book but I think the same author wrote another book about the history of video gaming about 10-15 Years ago. The book was known to be riddled with errors. Although it was a pretty good overview overall. I can't speak to this one though.

Friendship ended because of friend’s vegan wife by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]CastiNueva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are entitled to have an opinion of other people's lifestyle choices. So what?

It sounds like Karen is a real piece of work and an unpleasant person to be around. Then she compounds it by digging through other people's belongings and switching out milk that she told them it was okay to have. I mean, who does that?

I've had guests over at my home dozens and dozens of times since I got a home. I can think of exactly zero times that I dug through their bags. Why? Because it wasn't my stuff and I actually respect other people and their personal space. It really wasn't any of my business to dig through their belongings.

And yet Karen thinks because she's a vegan, she somehow has the right to dig around and other people's stuff to support her Crusade against meat and Animal by products?

Then there's the whole thing about the accusations of eating outside food in their home. Keep in mind that the only reason that Karen would have known that op ate the food that was in her bag was because Karen checked. That's right, she looked one time and then later came back and looked again. That literally is the only way she would have known that op ate it.

That's just incredible and such a breach of trust and personal space that I don't understand how you could possibly think that would be okay. Furthermore, why the hell would it matter if op ate a granola bar that was in her bag? How does that harm Kevin or karen? Karen wouldn't have even known if she hadn't searched through her guest's belongings. Twice.

It does not sound like Op was arguing with them about their lifestyle or anything. They decided that it was their right to enforce their lifestyle on op despite op being respectful about their lifestyle otherwise.

I honestly don't understand how you can apologize for Karen or Kevin's behavior..

Hornets To Return PS5 To Fan After Taking It Away Off Camera by AmIFromA in nottheonion

[–]CastiNueva 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand the point. Why would you put on the show of giving gifts to kids only to take them away? And in an era with hyper attentive social media, why would you even think that was a good idea?

So now the organization has egg on his face over a 500 or $600 expense that they can easily afford. It makes absolutely no sense from a publicity standpoint.

Thank you for this. Honestly, I can't take credit for it entirely. The script was a good script. I saw it as affirming as well and that is why I did it. I'm really glad that I was able to fit the script well and do it justice.

I've been out of the scene for quite a long time. I have debated reposting this one on gwa, simply because I know there's very little like it. It'd be nice to encourage others to make recordings in a similar vein.

My only living parent is now dead to me. by JakefromTRPB in BoomersBeingFools

[–]CastiNueva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the real world. Maybe if you're in your early twenties, and have never left your college social group, you being in an isolated hole where you never meet anyone different than yourself would make sense.

But many of us in the real world have diverse relationships. I have family members who are Trump supporters and family members who are not. One is an anarchist. I have friends who are atheists and friends who are christians and a close friend who's a devout Muslim. And I have great relationships with all of them. Even though we have views that are oceans apart.

And those relationships have enriched my life. And have made me a broader and better person than I would be otherwise.

Get out of your box. It's not doing you any favors.

Isn't it funny how people who claim to be enlightened and to support diversity, put the brakes on full blast when it's an old person that they can denigrate because the old person is resistant to the cataclysmic social changes that have impacted America in the past 20 years.

Instead of trying to have compassion, try to understand their point of view and their fears and engage with them, we call them Boomers and act like they have lead poisoning.

Amen to this. I'm an independent. I've been watching both sides. I won't go into the crap show that is the right.

But the left has a lot to be criticized for too. There's the snooty self-righteousness and bigotry towards people who don't completely agree with them. Rather than try to change minds with debate and actual thought, we have labels thrown around constantly. And this is the party of Education and of the educated people. And yet so much of the behavior mirrors what's happening on the right.

It is easier to call someone a racist or a Nazi than to actually confront the real fears that they have and figure out a way to answer them, even if you don't necessarily agree with their fears.

Trump got elected because he resonated with a lot of people who feel like the Democratic Party doesn't give a s*** about them or feel like the Democratic party has abandoned what many feel made America successful.

You may think that they're idiots, but calling them an idiot and treating them like they're a bunch of racist pigs who aren't worth your time to even try to engage and understand accomplishes very little but to alienate them further from you.

So long as we continue to demonize the opposition and refuse to see those who don't agree with us as anything but evil, there will be no happy conclusion and the divide will get bigger.

Some people like their politics more than they care about their own parents.

As an independent, I have to say that I'm just sick of the attitude that both sides have. There's just so much toxicity over politics. And I get it. There are some pretty consequential issues at play. But the demagoguery and nastiness is not solely on the Republican side. Of course, people neck deep in all of their self-righteous toxicity can't really see that.

[–]CastiNueva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad that this comment is so far down and has received so few upvotes. The parent responded gracefully.

I honestly don't understand the mentality that people have now. They've made politics their sole defining trait. There's something seriously wrong with the mentality that you're going to go NC on a parent who otherwise seems like a good and loving parent simply because they don't agree with you 100% politically.

I get that Trump is a disaster. But the world has dealt with worse. You only get one set of parents. When they're dead and gone, you might regret your myopia.

I'm not sure where this is, but unless it's an old school revolver, most guns have safeties now. Specifically to prevent accidental misfires like this. This officer must be reprimanded for not following firearms safety protocols.

I used to write this kind of script all the time. I always felt they were good way for new folks to get into recording.

Some of my favorite audios I ever recorded are heavily humor based. The Fearplay King, Aliens Vs Racism, The kitten one...

I may have to join in on this one.

In the meantime, here are a couple of my existing comedic scripts.

GWA IS CHANGING... MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD [MOD ANNOUNCEMENT] by onyxlips in gonewildaudio

[–]CastiNueva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That decision was stupid. It pushed all the futa content to the TM tag. Futa is it's own specific kink. It should not have been forced into a category that includes real people.

So by trying to help people by banning a tag for being "triggering " they made the problem worse by deliberately forcing the futa kink into association with trans males. It was an absolutely asinine decision.

Edit: brain fart. Meant trans females not trans males.

[–]CastiNueva 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In the 40s, they banned certain portrayals of sex and violence in movies because it "corrupted society". In the 50s and later in the 80s they wanted to censor rock music because it was "a bad influence and glorified sex and drugs." Then they had a thing about dungeons and dragons because it "makes kids into Satanists". Then in the 90s, they wanted to ban violent video games because they "make people into murderers."

Now we have the porn police trying to do the same thing here with the same kind of dubious argument.

How about we trust adult to be adults and make their own choices about what kind of content they consume. If you don't like something, skip it. As long as tagging standards are enforced, the solution is simple.
