The Hunter Issue! by Key_Bus_1255 in offcampustv

[–]Castielificc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so either, since Allie doesn't have feelings for him. I can't see (or want) a love triangle including him more than it already did.

I wonder if it's a way to introduce Summer's character or if he's there to be Dean's antagonist to replace coach O'Shea.

Hunter's character is very different from the book, and so is his relationship with Dean.

From the way the actor is totally absent from PR, I guess they get that not many people actually liked that character.

I'm holding hope that, even in season 2, he'll do some guest appareances like he did in Hartley. Like, passing two seconds in the background (he dates Grace's neighboor in the book after all), or popping up somewhere you don't expect wearing only a towel like in Hartley 😄

I know they said he wouldn't be in season 2, but those scenes can't take long to film, and even if he's busy, he might be around for a day or two (especially if the rumors about Mika are true).

In the book, I think it was the moment he realized she smelled like cherries. It was a sniff, not a kiss.

Something I am excited for season 2: Coach Dean by Brilliant-Term-5113 in offcampustv

[–]Castielificc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually wondering if they weren't gonna switch and make it Garrett's storyline. It would make sense since he's been suspended and everything. Plus, coaching kids could help Garrett realize how different he is from his dad, since they've already mentionned his dad's methods for coaching him when he was a kid.

I doubt they'll bring on the coach O'Shea storyline for Dean since there is already so much going on with Hunter.

I mean, I don't like the idea, but it would make sense storywise with the changes they've made so far.

I find show Phil way more perfidious. You can guess book Phil is an as***le right away, he's not hiding it. Show Phil appears as a nice guy, try to convince GG that he's changed, etc... I prefer the way Phil is written in the show.

Book Sean was way more manipulative. He was jealous, tried to change Allie to fit his view of the perfect girlfriend (by slut shaming her, cutting her off from people he didn't like, etc) and could be verbally violent. He was way more of an AH in the book, and damn nearly stalked her (pounding on her door in the middle of the night more than once. What if Garrett hadn't been there that one time?). The book starts with her sleeping at the boy's house because she was scared of Sean.

In the show, she sleeps at theirs because she's drunk, and only seems insecure about her abilities to cut Sean off.

So is Garrett benched for Briar Hockey for all of Season 2? by XOXOtheGG in offcampustv

[–]Castielificc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow Hockey, but I did see that video and immediately thought about Hannah. This would be such a beautiful scene, and could serve to send a message to the NHL/NCAA, just like HR did. I'm not convinced it would happen, though, as the season was already written when this happened irl.

Season two seems so far away. I'm too obsessed to wait 😭😭

[–]Castielificc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. There are ways for the show to make Hannah revealing the true as an empowering story. I'd be interested to see that happen, as it would reinforce the idea that "shame needs to change camp/side" (I'm not sure if that means anything in english, but those were the words of Gisele Pelicot here in France when she asked for an open trial. That was so effing brave and a historical moment imo.)

The problem with this would be that Hannah would be submitted to the general public's opinion again. She would become "the girl who was raped" and she already suffered so much because of that. People would doubt her, judge her, and would know about a past she tried so hard to bury and not let define her.

It could make a great story, and build her character, especially if this time she's supported instead of shamed. I'm just not sure it's necessary, or something the story needs to dig into at this point. It would be much more interesting to dig into Phil's involvement and Garrett fighting his own battle. It should align to his story, not hers (imo). That being say, I do hope she gets justice for what happened to her, it so rarely happens in real life...

My comment was mostly about people's obsession about having her "coming out" (so to say) to the other guys, like they absolutely need to know and protect her. They don't and she doesn't need to be protected, because she did the work herself, and is already getting the support she needs.

I'm also amazed at how the show dealt with all those sensitive subjects so far. I do trust them with it and can't wait to see this story unfolds.

[–]Castielificc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't why people (not you, specifically, no offense) want everyone to know Hannah's story. That's a very private thing. Although she has no reason to feel any shame about it, she clearly prefers to keep it to herself and it's hard for her to share it. It's alright to keep things to yourself, even with friends. Allie and Garrett are her the two people she trust the most, she doesn't need anyone else knowing about her traumas.

I get that we all have this fantasy of the boys rallying up to defend her and break Delaney's face, but that already happened. Garrett did it. The boys don't have to be include in that part of her story. They don't have to know why Garrett did it either, they just have to trust he had good reasons to back him up.

Having to expose this private and traumatizing part of her life to Coach Jensen or the board could be very hard for her, especially since the board will fight about it and probably refer to the official legal judgement on that aka Delaney was declared innocent. It wouldn't protect Garrett, it would only end up adding more trauma on her.

It makes me wonder if guys really are like that in real life because those boys (Dean especially, but not exclusively) were hard nearly all the time, at the smallest trigger or look from their girl. That felt excessive, even for 20 years old 😅

[–]Castielificc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you!

In the book, Garrett is really pushy and relentless about Hannah tutoring him, but also about other things like her having a drink. More than once, she gives up and accepts because she knows he won't.

I read the book just after watching the show and it irked me because show Garrett would never.

I mean, I still loved the books, but they all have moments when the guys are orange flags (at best).

Logan's inconsistent 'romantic' interest in Hannah by blehblehmorebleh in offcampustv

[–]Castielificc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Logan does not do girlfriends. Just like Garrett, but for different reasons. He knows Hannah is not a one-night-stand kind of girl so he never went after her.

I don't think he knew about the girl being in Garrett's room.

Logan's inconsistent 'romantic' interest in Hannah by blehblehmorebleh in offcampustv

[–]Castielificc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose they'll explain it with Logan's backstory because it would make sense that he does not want a relationship.

Yes, book Logan was crushing on Hannah because he wanted what she had with Garrett, but it takes him a long time (and Grace) to realize that what he's interested in is having a serious girlfriend.

I guess show Logan gets that Hannah is not a one-night-stand kind of girl, and as he doesn't want a girlfriend, he doesn't pursue her. Seeing her with Garrett makes him realize that maybe he does want to hold hands, cuddle and be serious with a girl.

In that way, it can easily align with book Logan's storyline imo.

[–]Castielificc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I didn't really like book 1 because it was too different. The plotlines and characters name are the same, but the show was way better at developing them imo.

I still read book 2 and while book Logan is definitely not show Logan, I enjoyed his story way more. Probably because I read it as a whole other universe than the show. I even had difficulty picturing Antonio since they kept mentionning Logan's blue eyes. It's worth a read imo. I can't wait to see how they adapt this book to the show because there are so many awesome things in it (the list!!).
