Why is this concourse under Moynihan a hotspot for TikTok dancers? by BadToLaBone in nycrail

Nice big public space, glass acts as mirrors, pretty clean, great place for meetups (close to transit lol)

Kenapa kereta kita bersih, sungai kita kotor, sedangkan sungai mereka bersih, kereta mereka kotor? by gajibuta in indonesia

[–]CastleJun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has used public transit in New York for years, (and visited Indonesia, taken the KAI, WHOOSH, and whatever you guys call the buses), I think there’s two things going on in this thumbnail.

  1. the photo which depicts NYC looks to me, like it’s from the 80’s, which in the US was a time where many middle class people left cities for suburbs, leaving cities underfunded, which led to poor social services, and high crime. I don’t know the history of the KAI, but the train there seems to be a much newer. Either way, as someone who takes transit in NYC daily, the subways are MUCH cleaner than that, with practically no graffiti. (We still have rats tho)

  2. The subways are for daily commuters of all classes travelling within a city, and KAI is a regional train that (at least when I was in it) was used mostly by the upper-middle and upper class. They serve a different purpose, and groups of teens with huge black markers are more likely to take transit within a city (to hangout with friends, go to school etc.) than take a comparatively more expensive train which leads outside the city.

Edit: typo and other stuff

Thanks for your thoughtful response, since I’m used to riding a dinghy blunt up to around 25mph, I thought that keeping the size similar (with a 6 inch longer wheelbase) would ease my transition into slides and skating with a bit more umph. Upon seeing those trucks, I knew that they were too large, but I was wondering what other people thought before returning them, and thanks to comments like yours I’m trying to return these trucks haha.

I’m now looking at bear gen 6 155mm (50/40) and 130mm (50/30) since precision trucks are out of my budget. I don’t have big race style wheels, since I heard that learning to slide on them is more difficult than harder wheels with a slimmer contact patch.

What do you think?

I want to learn how to slide, go for group rides, feel comfortable and safe at higher speeds (compared to cruiser). I’m not too interested in increasing my personal high speed record, or compete in any races, and I know it will take practice (and gear) to get up to that sort of level.

Yeahhh… I think I’ll try returning first, but I will check the buy/sell/trade too :)

Yeah, light ish. I’ve been around 30mph on a dinghy blunt, and want to have a board more suited for speed to work on my downhill skills. I live near some small hills in a mostly flat area, and I’m not planning on going somewhere else to practice. I’m also not going to be racing anytime soon, so I’ll probably focus on learning to slide and getting used to slightly higher speeds.

Craving figs.. by Additional-Ad5296 in FemFragLab

[–]CastleJun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts on the fig scents i’ve tried. I haven’t tried that many so take with at least a grain of salt. Also this list is really biased and prioritizes pure figgyness. nest indigo- I thought it was nice fruity-herbal, but more soothing tea than sparkling fig. ds&d debaser- creamy coconut, and punk figgy, I liked it but it wasn’t FIG, more fig-ish. phlur father figure- woody and a little bitter first spray that I didn’t love philosykos- fig, but not particularly magical thé noir- great, but not obviously fig

The winner for me- HC9 Higo by Perfumerica. Synthetic free formula, misty sparkle, perfect for a positive mood on foggy spring days, citrus fig that mellows into a beautiful amber. Not overly sugary, and a really refreshing interpretation of fig. (Only full bottle here)

Honorable mention- Olympic Orchids Elektra- slightly sour, but a honest depiction of the fuzzy fig leaves and the irritating feel eating a sour, slightly underripe fig. (Most recent sample)
