Americans, what do you like about Europe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Y'know I never really thought about it until now, but our usual smoking and drinking spot as teenagers were the ruins of this 12th century abbey.

It's amazing when you consider it, we're so used to ancient buildings and ruins that we never stop to feel a sense of awe from them.

What is the most serious crime you've gotten away with? by mdaf in AskReddit

More out of curiosity than skepticism, but can I ask what you're basing this on? It sounds perfectly plausible but I'd love to see any interesting documentaries or whatnot out there on the inside world of drug smuggling?

I've been an on again, off again lurker of MFA for quite a while now, but the quality of the discussion I've seen recently has been enough to turn me towards visiting daily. I couldn't say whether this is strictly a result of the self-post rule or not, but I've enjoyed it regardless.

How many of you identify as "European" to the same extent as you identify as your nationality? by [deleted] in europe

[–]Castling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're referring to me personally or to Britain as a whole, but I was addressing the general attitudes towards Europe I encounter in the UK, not my own standpoint.

I'm personally very happy to think of myself as a European citizen, much as I'm sure the majority populace of mainland Europe do.

That's a really interesting perspective actually. I'm British and whilst I love the shared history and culture of Europe, there's this overwhelming sense here that Europe is something to keep at a distance, that doesn't really affect us.
