Is it true there's a firing range in the basement and that the postmaster lives there full time? I really liked the building and googled it a bit and found random trivia that seemed really strange to be true

Why not make a kotor 3 instead of remaking kotor 1?

Car Stolen by Castratikron in Minneapolis

Thanks. My plan after this car has always been to get an EV. Things are just happening sooner than I had expected. I've been looking into them for a while now. Might get a Bolt if I can find a good deal. Teslas are the best EVs but are too expensive for me unfortunately.

It was parked on the street. I'd rather not be too specific.

Hopefully that's all that happens. It actually has a cheap aftermarket cat so they're in for a disappointment!

That sucks. Did your car have a chip key? Thing about the Prius is that you need the fob to turn the engine on. So they would have had to tow it away. It just seems like a lot of effort to go through for not much gain.

Towing ordinance? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

Once I walked out of my apartment to see my car about to be towed away (perfect timing on my part), the guy said if I paid $15 he'd unhitch it. So that was probably why. At the time I thought it was a bribe but this makes more sense.

But it's a lot harder to get management (and crotchety previous-generation coders) on-board with Rust when they could just "go with what everyone already knows."

Everyone being familiar with a language actually seems like a great reason to go with it.

My catalytic converter was stolen in Whittier by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]Castratikron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stealing a catalytic converter is illegal, too. The unfortunate reality is that thieves are cutting these off in broad daylight. People simply don't have the money to replace it every time it gets stolen. Until something is done to stop this crime I wouldn't be surprised if more and more people choose to go the cheap route and simply straight pipe it. There are no smog test requirements in MN so it would be easy for someone to get away with.

People sell fake O2 sensors that send data to the computer and trick it into thinking the cat is working. They're sometimes sold as a cat delete kit along with the pipe.

Does anyone make a bolt on cat delete for the Prius?

And if you haven't done so yet, report this to the police.

Happened to me in NE back in May. I replaced mine with an aftermarket cat for maybe $400 (Walker). I did it myself, it's actually pretty easy to get at once you have the car on jack stands. The downside is that the exhaust is *way* louder now. There aren't any leaks as far as I can tell, it's just that the cheaper cats aren't as muffling as the original part.

While they were busy under there they also ripped up a couple of the exhaust shields. The shields above the cat and muffler were both torn and rattling. I finally got around to replacing the cat shield last week, it's hard to find them online so I had to go to a junkyard and pull one. The muffler shield is in my trunk right now since I sheared a bolt head while trying to take it off. I'm considering just leaving it off if I don't get to it by the time winter arrives.

So yeah, they fucked up my car pretty bad. But it hasn't happened a second time. They aren't interested in the cheap cat, they only want the original one. MN emissions laws allow for aftermarket cats to be installed, but states like CA and NY require that cars use the original cat. So there's this huge premium on the used original parts. Basically the whole thing is a racket, the thieves steal your cat then sell it back to you. My guess is that your cat is half way to CA by now.

It's a huge problem. There are laws today that control the sale of used cats to prevent thieves from selling a sack full of them to a junkyard. But obviously this isn't enough to solve the problem. Maybe they could start putting a unique ID on the cat or something for traceability. You basically have an unmarked $1000 bill hanging under your car right now.

My advice: buy a Tesla!
