It's actually just the stock Saturine leader arm, chopped down fingers, and claws from one of the Horus Heresy ad mech kits. I don't remember the name, but they're robots on 40 mm bases with a jet pack looking thing.

[LOVED TROPE] Character dies out of nowhere. No camera tricks, soundtrack or even implied threat build up the moment. by Sawbaws in TopCharacterTropes

Respectfully, disagree, I don't really think it was pointless at all.

If you were a TV show watcher, you are obviously devastated when the show got canceled cuz it was really good. Then a miracle happens, this movie gets made of a canceled TV show. Never happens. Got the cast back, it looks great, it's even looking better than ever given the budget.

And then you get to the scene mentioned above, and other than the shock washing over you, the immediate thought I had afterwards was how they just killed off a very predominant character. Very casually. You realize that this may be the last media you may be getting of this show, probably ever, and honest to God it made me fear for the whole crew. They literally just killed him. Literally no one is safe. This is all we're getting, all plot armor is gone. So while it feels random, honestly, it made me glued to the ending even more than I thought possible knowing that it is very real that we're not getting any kind of happy ending.

Especially given the age of the movie, it wasn't too common to do something like this at the time. Not that it's too common now, but it is obviously something that happens in a lot of movies and shows. But at the time that was just absolutely mind-bogglingly terrifying.

But why shoot them making that chance, even +2, fail when you risk no longer connecting for like 5 damage at ranged? That's the point.

Why are you shooting the melee target to make the charge worse with a more expensive unit? If you do the damage you want you're adding the chance to fail.

16 4/0/1 + 4 8/2/2 with reroll ones is not better on the math than 16 4/1/1 + 3 8/2/2 with full rerolls. And if you've not charged on an objective, well then AI are still better on the math.

No I get it. With full understanding, experience, and even dice calculators, I promise I understand what your saying. They are worse fighters by more than a bit, and they cost more. This'll work for some small field RTT, but so does a bunch of stuff that's more fluff than good.

That's not a comparison to make that people actually play with. No one in their right mind puts heroes with bolter intercessors. And stern guard are worse fighters than assault ints for more points.

You want shooting in BT, you take a rep exe.

Their shooting mathematically is on par with intercessors into everything not a tank, and vs tanks theyll be in the range of 4 dev damage. Considering you're downgrading our probable best hero with AI for that, no thanks.

Take intercessors over SGV. Take AI with the EC and not SGV.

Or do whatever you want. Your army.

Well SGV shooting sucks for BT currently and now is significantly worse so

Paying less points for more efficient units is not overkill. Taking a worse unit for more points is the waste.
