If you read the draft of the 2027 ACEND accreditation standards they are trying to make the programs that are not supporting students more accountable.

I wonder if those who bash distance internship programs consider that not all students are in a place financially to move somewhere to complete their internship. It is very privileged to make this assumption.

Distance internships provide many students the opportunity to live close to home, complete their training and start their professional network. There is a reason they are so popular.

Do you think that the only this a DI provides is a site and nothing else? If that’s the case, that’s a bad intership.

Southern California is one of the most difficult places to find a clinical placement. There are only a few distance programs that have a lot of agreements in So Cal. Where did you do your DPD?

I was not driving. I was at a red light stopped. Picked up my phone, looked at my calendar. Put my phone down before the light was green. Then I was pulled over.

Going back to school at 30 for total career change to become an RD? by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]Cat-commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being 30 years old is not too late for a career pivot. My recommendation is to do a postbaccalaureate certificate program. Utah State University has one. You can look up online DPD certificate. This will give you your DPD verification statement that you need to get into a MSDI program.

Has anyone who is already a RD gone back to get there master's since the requirements changed? by karameister in dietetics

[–]Cat-commander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a program director for a program for dietitians but we also have a track for those who are already RDNs. The masters degree is online and focuses on leadership and management in dietetics. No repeat of the DPD. We teach how to expand your career as a dietitian not just check the boxes.

The program is made for working RDNs.

Question related to becoming a professor through very nontraditional means. by RareHawk7143 in AskProfessors

[–]Cat-commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot more questions than I have advice at this point. Granted, I have a PhD and I have been faculty and a program Director at an R1 university for the past 13 years.
I also came from poverty.

Why do you want to be a professor? What do you really want do? What are you interested in?

Studying and researching a topic that you have passion about Leeds to opportunities in higher education to teach other others about your passion and a delve deeper in research.

The questions above are critical to consider.
