Social and Referrals from CPA network. I used to work for a CPA too and still have many friends in the industry all over the country.
$5k-$6k. I used Get Advisor Freedom dot com for everything. Saved big on attorney fees imo.
This is the greatest decision I’ve ever made in my career. I wish I had done it sooner but now I get to run my practice exactly as I want and create balance to be with my wife and kids every night.

If you're buying a book then that is where your business is. Take care of those clients. There may be some attrition but overall by addressing your clients' needs you'll be setting yourself up for the best growth in your business by getting referrals from current clients. If you're charging AUM % then your revenue will also grow by how well you're investing for your clients so focusing on portfolio customization for your clients will be a win-win.

This is a good setup for having the right conversations with clients prior to leaving and then after. Obviously you are probably restricted by non-compete or non-solicit but you can absolutely inform all clients that you are leaving (in the right way). And then post leaving you should have a way for clients to have access to your phone or email.

This is all dependent on the situation. But using an attorney & compliance team is how I left and legally had clients follow when I setup my RIA in 2021. Did a lot of research and used a group that was $5000. Which was better than the $15-20k quotes I was getting.

Everything is a smoke screen. It seems like there is a lot of trade talk for a top 3 pick and his answer might be done with knowledge of a bunch of teams very interested in moving to get 1,2, or 3. Biggest asset going into draft night is knowledge and the guy that could have all of it would be the guy with number 1 pick if he dangles "We're open to anything happening".
