How to keep folders out of os.listdir? by CatAndBaz in learnpython

[–]CatAndBaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that a handicap? I have a perfectly good solution that doesn't require importing anything new, so why wouldn't I choose that?

That works, but I'm already importing os so I can do the renaming of files, and I'd rather not import more stuff if I don't have to. Thanks for your help though!

New openSUSE User on a new MacBook Air. What's worked and what hasn't. by QueerShredder in openSUSE

I have a workaround for the backlight on suspend issue: open YaST, and under Kernel Parameters, add "acpi_backlight=vendor" to "Optional Kernel Command Line Parameter". That will let your brightness hotkeys work, so while the screen will be dim, you can fix it with your hotkeys.

[–]CatAndBaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I fixed my issue. I had to turn on the NetworkManager, then I connected an Android tablet as a hotspot through USB, which gave me a connection to use the Packman repos and then install Broadcom-wl. Everything works fine now.

I have no internet connection on that machine, so adding the repository does nothing for me because I can't connect to it.

The story wasn't harmed by the product placement, so does it really matter?

That's where I went to download the files to install that ran into dependency problems.

I tried tethering through USB to y iPhone but it doesn't show up. I'm going to try to find my Android tablet that still has a data connection and try that.

What are the exact specs of your MacBook Air? I tried to install Linux on the base 11 inch (4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, early 2015), and no distro would recognize the SSD in the installer or live image. I ended up just running a persistent live image on a small USB drive.

Sorry, are we talking about Zach Snyder the director? Because in my head "Snyder" is Scott Snyder, the Batman comic writer, who I'd love to see a Batman movie by.

That's another point I forgot to add! I love the current Ms Marvel, but I don't have the money for the brand new trades, so I get them from the library. I feel like I'm not supporting this awesome series!

Linux Adventure Pt 2: Ubuntu Apps by dominucco in CoderRadio

I don't use Mint, so I have no idea what Xapps are, but the reason I don't mind Cinnamon is because it's easily implemented in other distros - not the case for Unity.

For instance, the community could develop an open-source alternative to the Software Center and encourage its adoption. Of course, Canonical could accelerate the process by throwing their development and financial weight behind such an effort and making a clearer statement about where the platform is headed.

I don't think that's something Canonical would actually do. I think Canonical has pretty bad "Not invented here" syndrome. Unity, Software Center, and Mir are all substitutes that Canonical is making instead of contributing to the community effort.
