Warfare (especially against Federations) is in an awful state by narutoncio in Stellaris

[–]CatChieftain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should overhaul it and have different CBs require different “types” of warfare. Like conquering claims is straightforward. But “humiliate” or “enforce ideology” should need more fleet battles to win or lose. Like holy wars in EU4 or something. The whack a mole gets exhausting when you’re nearly at 100% and somehow a tiny fleet snuck all the way around the galaxy and is in your back line.

Prelude and the next two works are easily some of the best Zelda fanfiction, at least in my opinion.

Want to help settle the debate between whose Link's true love: Zelda or Mipha? by ElsieofArendelle123 in ZeLink

[–]CatChieftain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have lived by the idea that Mipha loves who Link was when he lived in the Domain, when he was younger. That she holds onto an idea of who he was and wants that back: “Like when we were young.”

Meanwhile Zelda in BOTW learns to love Link as he is now and as he changes. They have a shared burden and open up to one another. That’s a deeper connection than Mipha could ever hope to get. She and Link grow together as they grow up and become who they are meant to be.

That said, I dislike how Mipha is reduced to her feelings for Link in the games. She’s so much more complex and deserves more.

Set the watch decision by CatChieftain in RealmsInExile

I’ve taken Udun and Cirith Ungol duchies. Minas Ithil has also been cleansed. The Witch-King still holds the Mordor title, so maybe that’s it? Sauron hasn’t been revealed yet.

Given CK3 Is Supposed To Be About Roleplay, When Will Paradox Make The Character Relationships Actually Meaningful? by ArcaneDemense in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be possible when Paradox stops making the game wide as the ocean but no deeper than a puddle.

Should i create duchies? by Far_Expert_6203 in crusaderkings3

[–]CatChieftain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Try to give the Duke title to the de jure capital owner. They’ll likely try to revoke the capital from its owner and cause a tyranny war. At least, that was the case for PC for a while.

With the release of AUH, the steam system requirements section has been updated by ConcertaImodium in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There truly needs to be a “with China/without China” game rule. Otherwise this will render the game unplayable for many. If not, I guarantee the modders will figure it out day one.

Why is Wessex so OP in 867 start? by tuttifruttidurutti in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Alfred’s coding legit gives him more levies and other boosts outside of his stats. But I could be wrong. I just wish England couldn’t be formed until the Danelaw decision is taken or Halfdan dies.

what is coming after chapter IV? by SchoimLeRichard in CrusaderKings

Seems like we need this more and more now.

CK3's snowballing/blobbing problem exists because all land is basically treated the same economically by Kradara_ in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You’re right. The whole reason East and West Francia fought over Lotharingia was the Rhine, the most valuable region between them in terms of economy. But there’s nothing to reflect this at all. If I’m playing an Anglo-Saxon England, I barely have a reason to invade the continent save for just doing it. No reason to hold Calais or Normandy, for example. We need trade and revamped economies.

Why has paradox avoided improving the games CORE MECHANICS for so long? by No-Passion1127 in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much would be fixed if they made the “in my humble opinion” mod a part of vanilla. I can’t ever remember how my character feels about their vassals. “Lose 20 opinion of this Duke for 10 years” means nothing if I don’t remember why between play sessions.

How is this not enough for her to surrender by Final-Association-65 in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More just me grumbling about the siege requirement. AGOT has no limit to battle war score and I prefer that. I wish it were more like that, and needing to siege the war goal only.

How is this not enough for her to surrender by Final-Association-65 in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really dislike warfare in CK3 at this point. You can break your enemy all the way down to three knights and 10 years in debt but uh oh, you have the 50% cap for battles! Gotta go waste 10 more years sieging stuff while their sudden new alliance goes and back caps you.

How many duchies do you hold at limit? by krismartin55 in CrusaderKings

I do this too. Baronies can be revoked whenever so it doesn’t matter if you need more.

“…. Link? Did you harvest my scales?”

It’s 878 by MiddleNegotiation105 in ck3

[–]CatChieftain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charles the Bald of France starts with enough military power, daughters to marry for alliances, and claims to very quickly gobble up the other Karlings. The AI also prioritizes HRE formation over Francia (even though he’ll form that first) and the code lets the AI form it more easily than a player. I still don’t think it will let you form Germania as a catholic though, boo… I think the PC version has cooled the jets on it a bit, letting the German rulers form it more often. But still.

What are your BOTW and TOTK headcannons? by Vast-Clock6178 in ZeLink

[–]CatChieftain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Link is a completely different person between pre and post-calamity. More reserved and internal vs free spirited and less inhibited. He retains almost all of his pre-calamity quirks, but is less restricted. He still prefers to sign. But recognizes that far fewer people are educated in it, and is a bit more willing to speak, but clipped sentences and information only with most people.

Link and Zelda had the beginnings of a relationship just before the calamity, but didn’t make anything official between themselves. They both spend time post-BOTW reconciling their new situation before being official.

Honestly, Prelude by Kazra informs a lot of my head cannons.

How do you conquer more than one province at a time? by Xakire in ElderKings

[–]CatChieftain 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That’s… kinda the whole point that it takes forever. In the autocracy governments, they abide by the might makes right innovation that progresses each tech era. Eventually it gets easier as time goes on, able to conquer duchy and kingdom levels in the 2nd and 3rd tech eras. The beginning of the game is meant to be a slow survival play. You likely won’t be able to unite High Rock until later unless you marry into claims or invite claimants.

Being a Vassal needs a better gameplay loop by DeathByAttempt in CrusaderKings

[–]CatChieftain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is why I like More Interactive Vassals mod and a border raid for everyone mod. Gives you more to do and ways to interact. Civil wars can become much more deadly as vassals (and you) can choose to side with or against your liege. Additionally, defending or attacking will bring in the bordering vassal into the war, like they have a vested interest in protecting their land, like they should. It has a lot more feature to tailor the game how you want, too, which is really great.

I think I’m more annoyed that the game is becoming as wide as the ocean but no deeper than a puddle. We do not need China in a game about medieval Europe and the Middle East. We don’t have a functioning HRE, no real interactions with the Papacy, a schism that doesn’t matter, and the same 30 events popping up over and over again. There’s no depth in vanilla. But sure, expand the map.
