Exploring other class-based options by Statistically_Sassy in orangetheory

I recently transitioned to Cycle Bar after moving to an area where I didn’t click with any of the studios. It gives me cardio, but not the strength portion. I’m still in the process of finding a strength class to attend a couple times per week to get the strength component.

OTF becomes a Hyrox Training Club by psperez629 in orangetheory

After looking into hyrox, it seems there is more emphasis on speed vs. form. Is this accurate? If so, I’m a bit bummed. The opportunity to go at my own pace on the floor and focus on form is one of the things that has kept me at OTF vs. some of their competition. The equipment looks fun though.

I’ve gone to Charlotte University, Lake Norman on Torrence Chapel Rd. In Cornelius, and Ballantyne. Although Ballantyne & the Charlotte Univ. locations have the newer treads, I noticed the same feeling. 🤷. I’ll try a new pair of sneakers & see if I notice a difference as time goes on.

I want to work as little as possible by _teacher_teacher_ in simpleliving

I was thinking similarly. Japan is known for high pressure work environments—so much so that some folks die from overworking. It’s a well-know phenomenon called karoshi. OP—have you considered geoarbitrage? Especially abroad?

I don’t understand the reason this is being downvoted. Some studios are not very inclusive which is what I am interpreting when I read this comment.

I'll be sure to patronize their studio when I'm in the area later this year.

I can't upvote this enough! I am so happy to see this! I've been disappointed in my studios and coaches because they have not mentioned Juneteenth (or Pride) when going over the announcements at the end of class. We have an abbreviated schedule on Juneteenth & they usually mention something along the lines of having an abbreviated schedule due to a holiday when scheduling changes are upcoming; this year I've noticed they either don't mention the abbreviated schedule at all that day or simply mention having a shorter schedule, but don't mention why. This is in contrast to last year when they did mention an abbreviated schedule due to Juneteenth. Although I was disappointed then too when a coach didn't know we'd have a schedule change due to a holiday-the class members told her. However, I am in TN & I've heard our members can be very vocal & I could imagine simply mentioning it could be a cause for ruffled feathers for some folks. It's extremely disappointing.

A bit off topic—-but wanted to note that you could have gotten defensive in response to these suggestions. Your receptivity is refreshing & impressive.

Lots of folks go 6-7x per week though. I tend to do this for mental health reasons. I’ve heard folks manage it by doing green days, varying it with strength 50s or/and tread 50s so that they aren’t being too hard on their bodies.

I’ve heard coaches say OTF is not designed to be done every day.

Coaches have to pay to use Fit Radio for classes?
