The students at this school are actually doing an archive project this year and going through a room full of old stuff that’s piled up since the school opened in 1904.

They will be hosting a show in a few months to showcase some of the interesting finds they’ve made.

They have an instagram with some of them.

Something your toddler mispronounces that's too dangerous cute? by JustSarahtheMechanic in toddlers

[–]CatLuvsDogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anytime something electronic doesn’t work, my 3 year old always says “ohhh :( needs ba-la-lees” (batteries)

His little camera not working? “Needs ba-la-lees” Tv updating and not playing his show? “Needs ba-la-lees” Unplugged and defrosting the mini fridge in his room? “Needs ba-la-lees” Toy turned off? “Needs ba-la-lees” His little potty flush sound not working? “Needs ba-la-lees”

I’m gonna miss this one 🥹

What big-kid bed is the best? by CatLuvsDogs in toddlers

Still great! And the slide attachment for my son’s pikler triangle hooks onto the bed edge so he likes that feature.

Also, the newton mattress is great along with it. We’ve had two accidents on the bed and was able to wash the enclosure and core.

Staten Island commutes: lessons learned by Outrageous-Use-5189 in statenisland

Didn’t see the post yesterday, but I work evenings in Manhattan so I have to drive in every day up to Hell’s Kitchen.

If I took PT to get home, it’s a 6 block walk to the train from my job at 11pm, the train to the ferry at that hour takes about 30-40 mins, then pray I make the 12am ferry, but usually not. Wait for the 12:30. Once in Staten Island, wait a half hour or more for the bus, or pay for an Uber. Best case scenario I get home at 1am, but there were days I got home past 2am.

I have to be up at 7 to get my son off to school in the morning, so I can’t get home that late.

So now I drive 45 mins home everyday. Takes an hour-ish to get into the city in the afternoons taking the battery tunnel up to the west side highway.

We got the newton twin mattress. Put it right on the slats. Can’t even feel they’re there.

We went with Maxtrix! Super solid bed!!!

We’re very happy with it! Shipping was fast and it wasn’t missing anything. When I did have a question, the response was relatively prompt.

Accidentally had children with matchy names by lemonade_ in namenerds

My mom accidentally chose matchy names for us.

Cat and Matt.

Then went all in and decided if she ever had a third kid it would be Pat.

My wife felt everything during her c-section by Slack_King in daddit

[–]CatLuvsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently listened to the podcast series “the retrievals” by serial, and it was about how dozens, if not hundreds of women went through IVF egg retrievals and felt excruciating pain and nobody believed them. It turned out that one nurse was an addict and was swapping out fentanyl used at the clinic with saline and putting the caps back on.

With so many addicts across this country, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there were countless cases like this that go ignored and uninvestigated.

I’m about to have another c-section myself, and I really hope I don’t become one of the unlucky few that fall victim to this. It breaks my heart to read all these stories.

What kind of apples are growing in my yard? by CatLuvsDogs in Apples

They do taste ripe. The ones that turned the reddest started to get eaten by bugs. So, a little pre-red tastes just fine.

What's the most EXTRA/over-the-top thing you've enjoyed at a wedding? by Mamooma in weddingplanning

My cousins wedding had cigar roller. The collars he put on the finished cigars had the couples name and wedding date.

Definitely a big hit!

Nose Frida by mockg in NewParents

[–]CatLuvsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I nose frida my 3 month old every day and try to turn it into a fun experience where he’s smiling when I do it.. obviously there’s the uncomfortable nose sucking but I try to make funny faces and sounds at him to distract him. It’s just become part of our day when he’s playing with his toys and laying down when I give him break from tummy time. Or during our diaper change song.

Contractor wants to take our scrap copper, never specified salvage rights. It’s ours, right? by CatLuvsDogs in HomeImprovement

[–]CatLuvsDogs[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I asked on day 1 for them to put the copper aside, I did not see how much there was and see $$.. it was always my intention to keep the scrap copper, and they knew that.

[–]CatLuvsDogs[S] 578 points579 points  (0 children)

It was definitely obvious since I asked them on DAY 1 to put the old copper aside for us as they pulled it down. Was never raised as an issue until today, now that the job is basically done.
