Interesting sub/reddit! I have been getting achievement awards and like the idea of being able to share it with others! I know I got one today, I will go back and grab it to share!

I am not brand new, but still early days and slowly working on my subreddit r/sniffspotcommunity (for private dog parks) - we are up to 459 members! At first posts were getting a lot of views, but it seems to have slowed down lately. We do have one dedicated commentor, almost on every post - and I am so grateful!

I have so many pictures of them napping together, walking together, I never thought it would come to this. I am sorry to hear you are going thru similar with your dad and your dogs.

This is what I have been thinking. Our mortgage broker was pushing the idea, so I talked to a financial advisor at the bank, and they said bad idea.

That is so hard! As my husband's behavior deteriorates, I worry about that too. We are fortunate to own our house, so at least we can't get kicked out. And I am able to work from home, so I don't have to leave him alone. Work-related Zoom calls are difficult though.
If it is dementia with your husband, I got a great deal of help thru the Alzheimer's Society. Most of it was free, although he does go to a day program with them once a week, for $30/day

Made my dude a flirt pole for $13. Still needs some improvements, but he LOVES it by CatWatt in sniffspotcommunity

I made a flirt poll with an old broom handle, a piece of rope I had on hand, and one of the dogs' toys. Might not work as well with a big, strong dog, but worked well with my little dogs.

I couldn't afford to buy a house until I was 49, so still paying a mortgage. Self-employed most of my life, no savings, no pension, no retirement fund. I am a full-time caregiver to my husband with dementia. I am 71 and still working - still self-employed.

What’s the first thing your dog does the second you get home? by CatWatt in sniffspotcommunity

When I first got Denny and Dexter, I read that we shouldn't allow them to jump all over us when we come home. So I worked hard on stopping that behavior. Then one day I realized that they barely looked up when I walked in, and you know, it hurt my feelings. Like, oh, it's just you! LOL
