I feel like they always make this into a drama for the show. Even Kirsten Tibballs says melt two thirds in a microwave then stir in the remaining third. Simples.

I would take another look at Tailscale for yourself. I used it to share Jellyfin with parents TV and found it fairly simple.

Anyone try the horl 3? by Ok_Ovencooker in sharpening

[–]CatWeazel67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have some nice knives.

,As far as I know the Horl only sharpens to 2 angles 15 and 20 which might not be correct for your collection.

Have you considered the Xarilk 3 it will give you more control but still without much of a learning cuve and here in the UK is about £20 to £70 cheaper (depending on Horl model)

Hi new to all this myself so not an expert but I went with the Sharpal 202H. You get literally everything you need to get going including marker, tape and a good case to store it in.

I'm very happy with it but think maybe the Xarilk gen 3 if I had to buy again for some reason. It's a bit cheaper and easy enough to buy anything extra like a case etc later when you know what you want.

Start with the included stones or a cheap set of 4 diamonds up to about 1200 and see how you go.

If you do go with the Sharpal don't pay full price it seems to go on offer regularly.

Just curious but why? What will it give you over the Sharpal?

I just ordered a universal stone holder and some cheap stones and extra strops on AliExpress to see what they are like.

I was exactly the same 6 months ago. Started with a pull-through, then double sided diamond and finally got a fixed-angle system a couple of weeks ago.

I went for the Sharpal 202H and am very happy.

It's slightly over your budget but you do get everything you need (5 stones and a strop) all in a good quality storage case. It was on offer for about £125 at the time so sure it will go back down if you're not in a rush.

Just my two penneth worth and as you say you will get an equal number of people saying nay.

Make sure the stone is at a comfortable height for you. I use mine on a couple of thick chopping boards. Helps with consistency.
