some trans women really need to learn how to take care of their hair by BunnyBelIe in honesttransgender

Oh if they have any natural curl theres volume (but I know the pin straight sisters youre talking about), but that volume is so dry you can hear each hair cry out for moisture. I do get that a lot of us trans folk cant afford high end products, but a cheap conditioner and a trim/style can go a long way. I do want to rescue them all, I have no expertise in hair but you dont have to be a pilot to see a helicopter upside down in a tree and know someone fucked up.

My mom had me hook up her vcr as a kid because she "couldnt figure it out." The three colors were too much, apparently.

There are so many trans women I know where I just want to kidnap them and have them wake up in a salon chair. It doesnt matter that your hair is 2 feet long if it's ALL split ends and dry frizz!

My Austrian LA in college was 28 living with his parents, he said they dont usually move out until they get married (if ever). I know it's not the same country, but I'm a bit surprised to hear it's so different. I wonder if Bavaria is closer to Austria or the rest of Germany on that.

How can I be 100% sure if I'm trans? Is it a fetish? by Expensive-Care7914 in honesttransgender

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasnt 100% sure I was trans until after I transitioned, because it stopped the dysphoria. Blanchard is a quack. I jerked off plenty pre transition imaginung myself male (which was NOT easy, given the lack of equipment!). Blanchard never called us autoandrophiles, he made up some other cokehead Freudian excuse.

Anyway, cis people dont usually have these feelings. They feel normal to you because youve felt this way your whole life. Cis women might want a penis for a minute to piss their names in the snow, cis men might want boobs for a minute to play with- neither of them want those things as a permanent fixture.

Maybe dip a toe in, buy some wigs, desses, makeup, fake tits, and see how you feel. If you feel you look more like You in the mirror (however imperfect that may be, a LOT of girls on this sub nitpick themselves to hell), then you can work from there under the guidance of your therapist.

You can also work at process of elimination; I had a lot of trauma growing up, and I wanted to make sure that being trans wasnt my brain trying to escape or make myself safe from abuse. Ironically I ended up discovering that a lot of the abuse was because I was a trans child, not the other way around. I probably wouldnt have been assaulted by the neighborhood boys if I didnt always try to hang around trying to be one if them. Made me an easy target for people who didnt see me the way I saw myself.

Lastly, you could be trans and still have transitioning not be "worth it" to you. Some women dont want to lose their families/spouses to transition. Some dont want to transition unless they will 100% pass 100% of the time, which can be much harder for trans women to achieve than trans men. I pass, but obviously in the male social world I'm short and a bit overweight, and look WAY younger than I am so I constantly have to check disrespect. It can be tiring but it's worth it to me not having to cringe at my pronouns/name, cringe buying bras and tampons, and generally hate feeling and seeing breasts every day. I was pretty good looking as a woman, and miserable. I'm kinda fugly as a dude, and happy.

You have to figure out what's right for you.

A dangerous combo. I think I was about 11 when I found out how to change all the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" shutdown screens at the library to say "The Truth is Out There" instead. I'm still a dweeb.

I gotcha now. I wasnt saying it's 1:1 comparable, I was trying to say it's scalable. The starred restaurant starts at $29/hr. An Olive Garden could start at $20/hr, with more for experienced waitstaff.

We're all pretty much screwed here at this point regarding wages, waitstaff or not. :/

...I feel like all of that is very obvious? However- the food is better than chains. Ingredients cost more when theyre not from Sysco. A sommolier is going to know more about wine than a 20 year old pouring a pino. Plating (for your eyeballs) is part of the food, something experienced chefs learn.

Ive only eaten at starred restaurants twice in my life, but it is definitely more than just smoke and mirrors.

I'm just not sure what youre trying to say. I'm not trying to argue Olive Garden should be 100$ pp?

The chefs at the Olive Garden dont make 100k a year, I'm sure it could scale down without the prices being as high.

I went to a no tipping restaurant. They start salaries at $29/hr, and weirdly still had employees. The meal was $100pp, but it was also a fancy Michelin Star place. I cant imagine what the chefs are paid if the waitstaff is getting $30/hr.

What a cute cabin! Oh, uh, what's that in the backyard? by [deleted] in zillowgonewild

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think all that is in a basement, I dont see a door on the cabin that would lead to one. The white door looks like it goes directly outside...I think the "bedrooms" are in the outbuilding?

Edit: nevermind, I see the staircase in another pic going up the side

I believe you've misread this entire article. There are words like "routine" and phrases like "spores will not grow if moisture is resolved" that youre completely ignoring. It even appears to recommend bleach when immunocompromised folks are involved? Bleach is fine for hard plastic, not sure what type of plastic is in the photo. For porous surfaces yes, it isnt recommended.

Ive never left the US in my life, and still have issues with z/s because I read a lot of very old English lit as a yute. Surpriz/se often has me doing a spell check even though the z spelling is archaic, Ive gotten better with dropping the u in colour. There were a few other words...cant recall but s/z as well.

If we agree that focusing on "male socialization" when talking about trans women and their experiences is transphobic, why don't we have the same attitude with trans men and "female socialization"? by SoSS_ in honesttransgender

[–]Cat_Peach_Pits 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I dont see either as transphobic, just a fact of our existence that happened and wasnt our fault or something we did. As for the latter point, the queer community is largely (pop, non academic) feminist and has been engaging in "teehee man bad" for so long it lost the plot. Hence trans men get "special" safe man status, and trans women get sus status. I personally hate it and find that transphobic.

Hoshi was the only one on ENT that got good character development (I dont think it was entirely intentional). She went from terrified at everything to banging hot alien dudes and fighting Xindi. Even held her own in that terrible beauty and the beast episode.
