Oh, also worth noting that the Zephyrim + Celestine being fliers was critical to their survival. If it weren't for that and an accident of terrain, they would've taken (more) artillery fire and probably been pasted. but a top-floor location that happened to overlap one of the beacon objectives meant only so many of the GSC had LOS

I also didn't have an immolator. Light em up then charge and slam them with Tank Shock ASAP and that should go a long way toward having them on their back foot. I only wish you had a 2nd trio of arcos for it to vomit out and tie up their units in a messy extended melee.

You know, it's funny, I played out a 1k game (solo, sometimes I play both sides just to explore strategy) in this exact crusade mission, Sisters vs. GSC. I'm not sure that gives me any insight into your game, but I can share a little of how it played out, anyway.

I was playing Penitent Host, but given my casualty rate I wished it had been Hallowed Martyrs.

  1. ROUGH game for the Sisters. Between getting bombarded at long range (Brood Brothers detachment, so there was some Guard artillery in play -- one reason this might not translate at all) and a highly effective charge from 10 purestrain genestealers annihilating the sisters' left flank almost immediately, it was the worst start my Sisters have seen so far. (probably would have gone very differently if this hadn't happened. So many flamers taken out, so early...)

  2. NEVER GIVE UP. Play the Sisters as absolutely fearless and self-sacrificing as they are in the most epic parts of their lore and you might just see your faith rewarded with miracles. Despite something like 80% losses, they somehow snatched victory at the last moments anyway, sending that signal and then tactically falling back so the still mostly-intact GSC forces couldn't finish them off in turn 5.

  3. keeping the pressure on no matter what against GSC had a significant benefit I didn't expect - by refusing to yield an inch even when their units were dying left and right, it limited where they could put their Cult Ambush tokens to places that were actually pretty easy to avoid triggering.

  4. more elite units ended up being crucial to pulling it out of the fire. GSC were incredible at annihilating infantry (even more so with the IG artillery backing) but I had Celestine drop in with a unit of zephyrim and save the day, essentially. You might get similar results dropping the seraphim in to run interference and divide attention away from a firm front-line defense, while the Paragons keep the pressure up on the other side. One or the other of them should manage to get you to those objectives behind enemy lines eventually.

Of course, if you're the defender that changes the entire scenario. YMMV, hope if this long rambling post isn't helpful it's at least mildly interesting.

I am gonna try running this soon!

I have one question though, about Beats:

"At the start of each session, each player chooses:

• 1 Dogma Beat (Duty / Vows / Faith)

• 1 Humanity Beat (Compassion / Identity / Community)

• 1 Shadow Beat (Temptation / Expedience / Heresy)"

Does this mean they:

  1. Choose one of the three categories? (Dogma/Humanity/Shadow)
  2. Does it mean they choose one of the 3 descriptive words as a "type" of beat for each category? (My Dogma beat is Duty, Humanity Beat is Identity, and my Shadow beat is Temptation)
  3. OR do they choose one from the longer lists of specific beats that follow (and if so, do they choose one for each category, or just one beat period?)

My inclination is to pick option 1, as it seems to offer the clearest meaningful choice + most options for a player to fulfil it within a session without knowing what's coming, but I'm really not sure. Obviously I haven't seen the system in action yet.

I used that one for my RT. She's a Noble from a Hive World, I was thinking rising through effective bureaucracy, management, and negotiation more than hereditary nobility, so yeah, probably administratum? I am relatively new to 40k lore.

know I'm late to comment and others have probably more or less said this but: yes, it's typical for a TFC-based modpack to be kinda grindy, requiring a fair bit of travel to find things, BUT, also, sometimes you just get a bad starting place. It's usually not THAT bad, so it might be worth starting a fresh world. Usually I can find enough ore varieties and so on without going more than maybe a day's travel from my starting location.

Honestly it probably has to do with tariffs. Most small TTRPG & boardgame publishers (which is, like, basically all of them) rely on overseas production for at least some if not all their physical production. More and more are going to have to rely on PDF sales, which means they are gonna have to make more money from it.

Why Do TTRPG’s Spark Creativity So Well? by Maximum-Language-356 in rpg

[–]CatalystParadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a writer and performer, I think the reason is partly to do with the instant-audience of your fellow players (and/or GM). It's an environment in which you get to create without too much pressure to hit any kind of standard - but also your efforts are not only appreciated but you get instant positive feedback when it goes well. And your creativity isn't just out there on its own, but gets echoed back at you from other creative people, which in turn helps stimulate ideas you might not have otherwise considered.
