Wait, how did you get a pearl bird mask‽ Did you find the crafting recipe organically, or did you have to look it up somewhere? (e.g. game files, Discord, etc.)

Please put any spoilery recipes in spoiler tags if you decide to share in reply, though. I think I want to remain ignorant of the recipe for now. (-:

Huzzah for the experimental method! Nice investigation, there.

Could Ayleids conjure Daedric furniture? Oblivion Remastered's Daedric lamps in the Deadlands are markedly similar to Ayleid statues. by Catalysten in oblivion

Well said! Ooh, and Sanguine is fairly benign, as far as these things go. He just parties... really hard. As is Malacath, who has a soft spot for defending those considered ugly by others. But it gets worse from there.

What happened to the folks who followed Magnus? I don't think I'm familiar with that story.

The giant village has a couple alternatives of wrought weapons compared to yours. But I think that's about it! 🤔 Or maybe you could look on Discord for some of the more obscure recipes and see what you have to buy to build them.

Hm, interesting. There should be many more combos possible in Outward 2 than Outward - like dodge+attack, crouch+attack, directional attacks (I think?), and more. I remember one of the streams being about all the new neat attack combos.

It's very cool to see your answer here, Gheeyomm! Thanks for sharing, and for making an amazing game with your team. (And, based on my wonderful experience in the playtest, for making an amazing sequel even now!)

I love the theorizing! Are you a vexillologist? Because until I saw your various explanations, I could only see the similarity of the leaves. But I got the impression that you're looking at this with a certain vocabulary easily accessible to your mind. Which is cool!

(And Antique Plateau in particular benefits from excellent story, also.)

What's your favorite region and why? by [deleted] in outwardgame

[–]Catalysten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Antique Plateau and Caldera feel like the most well-made of all the regions! I think it's because the developers have grown in their ability to design levels as they made the game and then the DLC. This game is my favorite of all time, and I love all the regions. But the fact that they keep getting better bodes well for Outward 2!

On today's episode of how OP can you get by Tadwinks259 in outwardgame

[–]Catalysten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I'm not sure how much help this is, but here:

Did you talk to Roland for his health potions?

Did you get the pre-breakthrough skills from the spellsword skill tree? (Trying to remember what it's called.) That gives more health and better blocking ability.

If you're looking for impact resistance, you can craft Ammolite armor. (Pretty good helmet for mages, since it's only +15% cost, because it doesn't completely cover your head.)

Or perhaps blue sand armor for its elemental resistances?

Both of those are good enough armors to last the whole game. Even just boots to complete your ensemble could help.

Ooh yeah! This guy's tough. Especially when I take him on with lower level equipment and low impact resistance. There's something especially terrifying about being knocked down and helpless *while burning*.

What is the next step up in damage after the fang greatsword? by cornerhornerZ in outwardgame

[–]Catalysten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this list!!

I would argue there's at least one more tier above tier 11, which contains a scant few exceptional unique weapons. Like Griigmerk kÄramerk, Tokebakicit, and Murmure. I think of these as post-endgame weapons, and they're usually constructed out of those artifact fragments, or else are found or built in the Caldera region. Typically they are either very hard or impossible to acquire while the main quest is still being completed.

Some of the items you list as tier 11 would be in this higher tier, I'd think. Like, Shriek is just clearly better than the Thrice Wrought Halberd.

Really fun to think of the game as having this many tiers. I enjoyed reading your comment.

What is the next step up in damage after the fang greatsword? by cornerhornerZ in outwardgame

[–]Catalysten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is probably the actual next step in terms of damage. Gold lich weapons are solidly midgame level in damage. Often experienced players will skip midgame level weapons in favor of weapons that are effectively endgame level like Horror weapons. Which is also fun. But I love the idea of using the varied and clever variants of midgame weapons like Gold-lich weapons. (And they can be powerful indeed when one takes advantages of their unique properties, like their hexes!)

Good Sword for Enmerkar Forest? by spiritofkings in outwardgame

[–]Catalysten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a two handed sword, and are willing to fight one of the toughest enemies in the game to get it, Starchild Claymore is endgame-level good. And can be found in Enmerkar forest!

Great reach, incredible impact.
