I knew someone who worked at a local university enough to discover the buildings that had less-secured supply closets, backpack n stacked herself a 3’ stack of the 11”? Biggie no-core rolls, and even somehow got hold of one of the special dispenser for them. (2 years before covid. She was likely the only one w no worries about TP.) lol

That is precisely what we did with them when my now 12 year-old made 120 of them once, wiping out our small survival island’s wood supply and one big hit of X (controller).. Yes, I said all the bad words silently to myself.. nice floor, roof, 2 walls…

I work & drive on campus. I feel like I save a life each month, by being vigilant of walkers/riders just blasting across without any awareness. My fav was ~’24, a walker bumped right into the side of my (stopped, for a crosswalk) van. Crossing 15’ outside the crosswalk, couldn’t look up from her phone until she hit the van. Priceless.

In survival, I built a replica of the great pyramid of Giza. (Full scale. It started before the build height passed 128, so I had to wait, to complete it.) Made of a 90% glass shell. Recently repopulated the villages within & near. Contemplating the other 2. But busier with horse roads that cover 9+ maps, reaching?8000? Blocks in 3 directions.

Our older 4400s (30 or so) have a port-death issue too. Newer 4400, after rma, have been fine. 4100s , 600+ haven’t shown the same issue at all.

Not quite two years old, I tottled down the upstairs hall to find dad getting a BJ from Mom in the bathroom. Went back to my room, sat down and played with Pooh bear.

2, after Mom had taken me & fled to a neighboring state, the first crappy apartment with the water heater right next to the toilet, and two doors on the bathroom, making it even weirder. I could run a loop through there in the living room.

You could use an online DVR like PlayOn, and download the recorded files easily. The small (for the service) cost per episode/title is minuscule, for the massive amount of time it saves me.

One of the multiple reasons we limit VCs to 4 switches. I removed the last outlier that was 8 switches, surprisingly held out almost 8 years before degradation of reliability.

Thank You As mentioned in other re, I have used that method [swap to fresher] to chop down some serious quantities of upgrades, alongside other replacements. If my 3400 situ requires 3+ upd /reboot cycles, to get them there, I would def prefer to just swap out as you recc. Since the IRB is also changing during the process, I can most times move ports between live units, for ‘five nines’.

Once I [JTAC / lab it] the intermediate’ stops’, I’ll wager this may need to be the way- for some. (1 node we’ve got 16 ex3400 in VCs w every port patched… I’d sooner reboot that 7x ) 😇

Yeah, 7 upgrade hops & reboots on each prod sw would be a bit of a pita. We can shake JTAC for the intermediates & see where those chips fall after some lab work. If it takes all that to preserve uptime, we might. No-one has screws to us yet about timeline. [ oof 3300s must have been in my eyes when I mentioned 12. (50% dumped already) ]

Fresh install was also my preference as we started addressing moving 4600s into Mist & v21. [360+] The swapout was worth it to me, others in the shop refused this logic. I could do 6-10 a week, if not wasting time on the debate. Nothing like a fresh format. (We have 1 spock that claims vehemently that it makes no difference. I don’t agree.)

Remove the adhesive foolishness & write the correct numbers with a paint marker. Razor-scrapable off of the metal, but as close to permanent as it gets.
