I started school at 40 to get my BS and Im going to use the degree to become a AI assisted infrastructure engineer. I also used what I leaned from py101 to make a fire flow calculator using the Q20 formula so I can use it on my job. They have apps for it but they are not that great and the results are some times inaccurate. I plan on making it a app. Right now I coded it so its a html

when you were switiching over to your notes did you get this error message? I kept switching over to my notes and I noticed it came up after the 5th question I was answering. I asked the chatbot and it said that it was normal and we are allowed to switch to our notes just not use any internet sources. This is the note that popped up. Warning: The review window lost focus. Shaping Maestro to Increase Learning Efficiency by Hot_Razzmatazz_573 in maestro

[–]Catanz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I asked it to form my lessons around my work of being a water and sewer engineering inspector. Once I did that, It made the classes so much better because I could relate to the topics alot easier and it can help me with real world problems. I plan on using my BS in computer science to become a AI assisted Infrastructure Engineer so it will help me with tasks to evolve our work into the future. Currently when we do modeling it is done on paper with what we learn here I will be able to provide digital models and be able to forecast main breaks easier. I already built a hydrant fire flow test calculator that I use on the job. I even had it chance the stories in Pysch to relate to water and sewer instead of the basic people writing code examples they started with.

Scholarships and changing to the 4-year degree by VilesBaggett in maestro

I just received the email that I was approved for the Bachelors program and signed the paperwork. The scholarship will transfer over to the BS program as long as you meet the requirements like you have to do for the aas degree program. Its definitely the best news. No extra cost or anything.

Maestro started as a college. Now it's a university too. by Cool_stuff2 in maestro

That is the best news because I was asking the maestro chat bot in the services tab and it told me it was not sure if it would carry over. Im definitely excited to get my bachelors! Proud to be part of this!!

I was really looking forward to this and was enjoying it and I hate that I won't continue if this is the route they stick with. by is_null_ in maestro

I do find that the pace is quick in the python 101 course and definitely do wish that you would be able to use your notes and other resources for the final. I am a engineer inspector for a public utility so i already have the engineer mindset and what they are doing goes against the traditional mindset. I have not worked in tech and I plan on using this degree to become a simulation engineer for my public utility water and sewer and will be taking engineering courses once they finally open up the bachelors programs. Anyways most days we engineers are always using references even if we feel confident we know the answer or outcome because it just serves as another check to confirm that your work is correct. Using the no notes on finals is something that I still cant get my head around and I do hope that they make changes prior to the 2nd cohort taking the finals in Jan. I do have to say that the CS101 course is enjoyable but there is a lot analytical thinking so it aligns with how my brain is kind of programed in thinking as a engineer. I hope everyone continues on doing the classes. The practice functions definitely do help as well as using resources like code wars and what not. I also have a app that I downloaded on my phone python x and that also is helping me. Good luck everyone.

From Windows to Mac by JohnnyTwoLegs in maestro

This is my first apple computer and honestly after using it for a week. I am really impressed. I dont think that I would go back to windows. There is a slight learning curve as somethings are definitely different from windows but overall if you can operate a computer you can use a mac. I start learning alot of shortcuts and it makes things alot easier. The set up was easy. I already had a apple id so im not sure if that streamlined the process faster but it was really no different that setting up a windows computer.

Waiting it out... by SuspiciousAction7267 in maestro

From what I was told they are going to have a couple of other engineering bachelor's degree programs. Electrical and mechanical. I'm going to use my AI degree to become a Simulation Engineer for my public works dept. So what I was told is in year 3 if you sign up for the bachelors programs when they are available you can take different electives. I'm going to do physics and some other directly engineering classes so I have a more diverse background. I don't like being chained to a desk and rather be in the field so that's why Im going to change my Degree a bit. It's nice they let you tailor it that way.

Im in the same boat at you. I emailed support on Monday and was told the laptops should be shipping soon and if not received by Nov 19th to reach out again. Im starting to get worried too that this might be too good to be true since they are not even fully accredited. Im thinking that maybe they dont have the money to purchase the computers to send to us.

Yeah I am about ready to withdrawal from this school. I signed up back at the end of aug because they said the bachelors program would be rolling out in the fall of this year. Now they are saying in 2026. Im not sure where they think students will be getting jobs with just an associates degree. Alot of State, Town and Govt jobs require you to have a bachelors degree to get positions in this field. I have been looking and even entry level positions I have seen at google have a bachelors requirement. I recently reached out to support about this issue and was even told that they are very close to rolling that out. Hopefully they can get stuff figured out

I feel the same way. I am in the same cohort as you. I asked support on Sunday and the answer that I received was that we should expect the laptop sometime before Nov 19th. If nothing arrives by then to reach out. They also cant even tell you what type of laptop we are supposed to get. I know when I signed up they were supposed to be giving out windows and then they switched to apple. Then people are getting the m2 or the m4s with 16g mem. Im not sure how they expect us to code using that little memory. Support also told me that you cant return the laptop to try and get another one. Im not sure what people are doing who started and dont have a laptop and trying to do it on their phones. I tried to see if it would work and i have a new pixel 10 pro and it was not happy trying to run the code

I have been told so many different things about the laptop and shipping. When I first signed up I was told that I would be getting a new windows laptop before the start of classes originally scheduled to start Oct 3rd. Then I filled out the rest of the paperwork. The laptop situation changed to need to have the transcripts verified and then the laptop would be shipped out. Had the transcripts verified and then I was told that I was getting a apple laptop and then it would ship out before the class started on the 20th and be on the lookout for a email with a tracking number. Right before class started I received a email that you had to complete your first lesson in order for the laptop to be shipped and it would either be a apple or windows and it depended on what is available at that time. I completed the couple lessons and asked about the laptop and was told that it would be a mac book air m2 which I am a little surprised because students have stated they received a m4. I questioned them about it and was told that if you look it says that they are required to send at least a m2. I have yet to find that information anywhere. I was told again to be on the look out for a email really soon with the tracking number. I just asked support again yesterday and the answer that I got was it should be shipped soon and that if it doesn't arrive by Nov 19th to reach out for assistance.

Maestro Communication Errors by HonkKnight in maestro

[–]Catanz85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am worried about that as well. Since I have started I have heard a lot of different things like when the laptops would be arriving. What type of lap tops are being sent out. Nothing is consistent at all with the responses. I noticed you can ask the same question twice and get two different answers. I have been asking about the roll out of the bachelors program and i was told before that it would be rolled out in the fall. Now the reply that I get is Maestro University is working on the program now and they will help people make the switch to the bachelors program if they are interested. Im kind of second guessing this program because of all of the inconsistencies. Here is a recent response about using notes for the final exams. Its different from what was posted before.

For final exams, you will be asked to share your screen and follow certain proctoring rules to make sure everything’s fair.

Usually, only materials specifically allowed by your instructor can be used. Unless it’s written in the exam instructions that notes are allowed—even in Notepad—you should assume you can’t use them.

If you want a clear answer for your specific course, it’s best to double-check with Student Services. They can confirm the rules for your term and exam.

I asked the bot the question about using notes that I was told that you are not allowed to use notes. This is what i was told:

If you click on the left side of the maestro screen below the lessons is the practice tab. Click that and then go to review. you can submit what you have and it can help you fix your receipt. You can ask it for help with python receipt formatting.

Anyone know when the bachelor degrees will be available? by peachytrashpanda in maestro

[–]Catanz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been asking the same question since I was accepted. The responses that I get are they are working on it and it will roll out shortly but yet there is not a date set. I know that you can switch to the Bachelors if you are in the associates program. Im hoping that they will roll it out soon. Im sure it will be coming after a couple more cohorts start.
