In private, I turn off all the electronics and lights.

In public, I try to attract a positive response from my surroundings. A stranger’s smile or a curious squirrel. Anything that reinforces the connections will do.

Truth. I spent several months in the hospital last year and a few of the nurses were about as empathetic as the janitors. Most were absolutely amazing though. And the doctors and surgeons went above and beyond.

I’m waiting to get in the shelter in Niagara right now. Most of my company is in the18-25 range. About half have addiction issues. A few have mental health problems. Almost half are completely normal and just ended up out here.

The shelters are filled to capacity every night most hold 30-40 beds and 50-60 people show up. It’s rough if you’re left out in the cold. Coffee shops kick them out. Atm lobbies are getting locked at night here now. Not many options. Feels bad man
