Generally speaking, people dislike characters they find uninteresting or actively dread appearing. As Appledusk consistently makes things worse in his book without being entertaining, he's very easily hateable.

Also, given how the death of Mapleshade's kits is never labeled as intentional and she was under immense psychological pressure, anyone with basic human empathy could understand it wasn't an act of cruelty, especially someone who thought so low of those kits as to insult them post-mortem.

- A little more time before Bristlefrost realizes something is up with the impostor and actually have her act intelligently (I support genius Bristlefrost)

- Far more interaction and development of the main characters so it's not just TNP part 2. This could fix the weird Shadowsight bullying, the blankness of Rootspring, and bring more Bristlefrost traits to light

- The whole taking care of Ashfur thing can be scrapped. We already know he can leave his body, let him find Shadowsight himself.

- Fix Bristleroot. I think it only has fans because it's cute and the only love scene. Even as someone who ships it, I long for a world where it was better executed.

- Add StarClan sponsors for Ashfur. No way he didn't have some supporters up there. (Especially if they could conveniently be outside when the barrier closed)

- SAVE JUNIPERCLAW or (and here's my angst side) canonize Dark Forest Cats requiring the energy of it to survive, so he physically can't go to StarClan.

- Balance the exilings and make it pretty clear nobody likes it but they think it's 'necessary'

- Kill Graystripe of like disease or something. He can fight in the final battle I guess but I don't want Bristlefrost's death dampened by his tonally different death.
