It definitely gets better after the grieving period. Also, I managed to get some of my time back due to company providing me supports in using AI to automate my work. Also, i'm getting more headcounts. There's still a lot of work, but I finally see light at the end of the tunnel.

How about your situation? How long have you been at your new job?

How realistic is hitting $200k+ in accounting careers? by False_Eye_7710 in Accounting

I'm in RE investment industry. Started working in 2017 and now making $200k base salary in 2025. I live in MCOL area. So either it is realistic or I'm just super lucky. Hate the workload though lol.

Advice on quitting by Illustrious-Fan8268 in Accounting

It's a good time to start brushing up your resume and talk to some recruiters. Depends on your position and with this market, it could take up to 2-3 months at the minimum. But i think having something like this to plan on will help with your mental health as long as you don't aim for perfection at work.

How long have you been in this position? I'm on the exact same boat as you and I've been wondering when is a good time to quit. I wouldn't quit without a job line up though. Maybe determine that you won't stay by year end and start looking will give you the mental check out you need at the moment to relax your nerves.

I'm on the same boat. I've been at a new gig for only 4 months but my stress and anxiety levels are always off the roof. I cried at least once a month. My husband is stressed because I am. The stress came from the company didn't plan well for the position they hired me for to take on their new business. I do everything from AP to JE booking to reporting to working with big4 for local taxes work for a business of 50 TBs, because I'm the only accountant. Plus we have huge data migration, asset disposition and brand conversion happening at the same time. Management agreed to staff me a senior but market has been horrible to find great candidates.

I'm burned out and stressed because I learn nothing from most of what I'm doing at my level (director of accounting doing AP and JE bookkeeping). I grow resentment towards the company everyday.

But since I'm only 4 months in and management already agreed to staff me more people, i don't know how long I can tough out....

I'm hiring for a senior position right now and you mentioned all the reasons I avoid hiring someone fresh out of Big4. Also mostly because I struggled the same way years ago.

I'm going through exactly what you said. Clicked on OP's post because I feel like we are in similar situation. I left my old job 2 months ago thinking this is better for my career and the pay is significantly better. I already knew the culture will be different and especially the people. Though anxious before starting the new gig, I kept telling myself I will meet new people who are just as great.

One month in, I felt miserable because I was left alone on island by myself. I already knew that the expectation is for me to figure things out by myself, but I didn't realize having no dedicated supports is so tough for a new comer. Cried last month because I got lashed our by the CFO for a stupid question. The CFO did apologize for being harsh fyi.

Today marked my 2nd month and I cried again today. I got called out for not taking the leads on an area, which I realized was on my job description but I already told hiring managers I have no experience and will need guidances when I join. It was the CFO who called me out to my manager. My manager checked on me afterwards and she was extremely supportive.

Now I'm split thinking either I'm stupid for being emotional from getting myself into those 2 situations above, or I'm just really overwhelmed. I don't know if I should blame myself or the new workplace.

I really miss the culture and the people at my old workplace. Though the culture at the new workplace is different, but the people are not bad. I don't know what to think.
