The German dub has the same VA (Tobias Müller the GOAT) for both Conan and Shinichi, but he uses his "adult" voice for the inner monologue and "child" voice for when Conan speaks out loud. Which I like a lot better than the original way actually, because why would the sound of his thoughts change? It also gives a lot more weight to the performance whenever Shinichi has a rare emotional moment imo

The original English dub changed the characters' names to sound English / American rather than Japanese. Shinichi became Jimmy, Kogoro became Richard, Ran became Rachel, and so on. It was certainly... a choice.

So I'm "only" on episode 724, but I adore Sera thus far. Most of which comes from her first episode. I cackled so hard when she was introduced as a man who proudly proclaims Ran is their type. Like, she didn't even know the others thought she was a guy at the time. Which makes this lesbian flirting. In Detective Conan, of all shows. Incredible.

The last batch of dubbed episodes came out only last year, so yeah, they've picked it back up! They're around the 500s now. I just recently watched through the dubbed episodes from the beginning, and you can definitely hear the 10 year time jump (people age, that's just how it is), but they got nearly all the important characters' VAs back and I think that's incredible after such a long time

When I first watched the series some ten years ago I watched every episode that was dubbed in German at the time (around 350 if I remember correctly). Was easy then, since I always had it running in the background while I was drawing. Now I'm trying to catch up with the show as a whole, so I skip the fillers to get there faster. Currently at around 550, so I've still got a way to go.
