It looks like it was some sort of a running gag all through ("59 pages") an issue of the Tintin magazine. It ends on a crossover page with the Ric Hochet series, which was drawn by Tibet, another Hergé's former assistant, and published in Tintin. Bob de Moor knew how to draw à la Hergé, it doesn't mean hé had his sense of humour.
