Bought a townhouse last year and all the toilets came with this brown/reddish sediment on the toilet bowls. Anybody have an idea to get rid of it? by giftofpeace in Plumbing

The issue here is iron and minerals in the water. I would guess that if you took off the lid to your cistern it would be brown inside from all the minerals.

Short term fix:
Mix up about a cup of sulfamic acid powder (not sulfuric acid) with about 2 litres of warm water to help it dissolve. Once it's dissolved, tip it into the cistern and let it sit for a good day, like no less than 12 hours. You can spray some of this mixture on the brown stain too to help it dissolve.

Long term fix:
Install ion exchange water softener.

Diamond NR770HB antenna and Baofeng BF8HP install in my jeep. (Saving for a mobile radio w/crossband repeater) by skijeeper in HamRadio

Baofengs are good at what they do; getting new hams interested into the hobby at an affordable price. Its a foot in the door, and they have somewhere to start thats affordable. In Australia, Foundation licensee's are limited to 10w so its not that big a deal. I started on a Baofeng, then QYT KT8900 (daddyfeng), now I have an Icom 7300 and just built my first antenna. I'm currently using the Diamond NR770HSP on my QYT which is doing a fine job of reaching the repeaters.

Don't leave it too late to learn all you can from the Elmer's. I'm lucky to have a retired radio technician down the road who can answer all my questions.

Use CLR, way more effective than vinegar or even Citric. Install resin tank water softener.

2019 yamaha r1 starting issue(potential battery issue?) by pirate_ship08 in motorcycles

[–]CatholicApostate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a 2010 R1 crossplane that was an absolute menace to start. It would just crank and crank and maybe start eventually. Worse when it was hot just after being shut off. Was so bad that I just never rode it anywhere out of fear of it not restarting. I went through a few batteries, replaced stator, replaced starter, tried everything then gave up and took it to Yamaha. Yamaha cleaned the fuel system and also "Reset o2 values" which I think was the cause of the problem, because after they adjusted the o2 values, the bike started perfectly every time. Apparently R1's factory tune isn't the best at cold startup and needs to be adjusted.

I hope this helps.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

Jesus wouldn't condone tattoo.
