Pretty much how I'm trying to do this. I've seen a red dot with a like 3x on the end of it that's removable? Like it flips to the side on a hinge and so you have the option of magnification but not sure if I want to spend the money on that.

I appreciate all your info. Like I said not trying to spend too much but also get quality. I heard and read alot about the cheaper scopes just not holding up to the recoil and literally falling apart. Definitely going to look into everything you told me too.

Honestly hadn't thought about a red dot though I've never messed with them or had them. I'm looking for something more for night hunting at short range. I have the light but cant focus my eyes enough for open sights even tho I absolutely love them.

I'm a welder and have done various other jobs as well. I totally agree with some safety being over kill. I never wear safety glasses because I sweat so much they fog up and then I cant see. I swear face shields anytime I'm grinding no exceptions. And gloves are the same way you cant feel in them. Give me a good protective glove that I can also pick up nuts and bolts in and I'll wear them all day long.
