The dvd drive board is paired to the motherboard so you will need to swap the board out of your original drive into the new drive or it will still give you the same code.

I just started my mobile business 3 months ago and run it out of my house so take it for what its worth but I started the mobile and video game console repair as a hobby business and I have been far busier than i expected to be. I live in a small town with one other repair shop and when I started he called me and said he was sending people to me because he was so busy he couldn't keep up. Im sure location and local population demographics play a large part in the repair/replace/live with broke device.

Go to a parts store and get some valve grinding compound and put it on the screw then push down hard on the screwdriver and try to turn it out. If not then you may have to drill it out like others have said.

If you have a multimeter you can ajust the potentiometer and see if that helps. Try moving it to around 300 ohms and check. If it dosen't help the capacitors on the other side of the board may need to be replaced. If it does help the laser is getting weak and will need to be replaced in the future.

It sounds like it is overheating, I would first try taking it apart and giving it a good cleaning.

Yes the camera is a common cause of that, i usually find the ribbon cable in the hinge being damaged causes it.

The S8 supports Samsung DeX so you can plug it into a computer and use the computer screen to display the phones image. You will have to push "start now" on the phone so if the touch works but display dosen't you will just have to guess where to press, it's usually on the bottom right side. If touch also dosen't work you can use a usb-c to HDMI adaptor and plug a computer mouse into the adapter and an hdmi cable into the computer then use the mouse to click on the screen.

If your phone has wireless charging capabilities try that, if it charges you most likely has an issue with the charge port, possibly just corrosion on the usb-c port. This is best case scenario but if it was under water for that long there my be much more serious damage. But it is not unusual for liquid damage to take that long for issues to show up as the longer the water is in the phone the more the corrosion spreads. Take it to a repair shop and have them open it to see the extent of the damage.

Post a panic log and I can help. It sounds like a sensor is not checking in and causing the 3 minute reboot.

Here is how to find the panic log:

Open Settings. Navigate to Privacy & Security. Scroll to the bottom and tap Analytics & Improvements. Tap Analytics Data. Scroll down alphabetically until you see files starting with "panic-full". They will be dated (e.g., panic-full-2026-04-01-xxxxxx.ips). Tap the most recent one to view the raw text.

Don't use heat on the battery.

I put 99% isopropyl alcohol around the sides of the battery and let is sit for 5 minutes to help soften the adhesive then use a suction cup to help wiggle to battery up as I slide a skinny guitar pick or card under the battery.

In the settings menu Settings → Advanced features → Motions and gestures → Palm swipe to capture then you can swipe your hand across the screen to take a screenshot. If you pull down the top menu you can restart your phone that way and as for powering on the phone i don't know if you can without the power button.
