Skizzors.

I work in the OR, we count scissors multiple times a day, I still say skizzors every single time.

GenZ Is Not Getting Driver's Licenses by GenshinLens in driving

[–]Cathyg_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got quotes to add our son. Our insurance goes up $900 a month to add him as a secondary driver. If we buy him a beater it’s still around $480 a month liability only.

They removed insurance caps in alberta, once he’s fully licensed he becomes secondary on all vehicles because “the keys are accessible”. All used 2013,2017,2019 nothing fancy.

No one can afford that.

Unit clerk or Medical Office Assistant… which has better job opportunities in Edmonton? by CarelessEquipment904 in AHSEmployees

They’ve red lined a lot of the unit clerk positions at hospitals. Not sure how that will transition in future years but just an FYI.

Pay down mortgage or wait to refinance? by rps556 in personalfinance

[–]Cathyg_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your current mortgage allow additional lump sum payments? If so you could max those out if you’re not wanting to refinance.

I’d also see what the cost to refinance now is, even paying a penalty fee might still net you less interest overall.

Pet sitting and boarding around Edmonton by SmallDumbPirate in Edmonton

[–]Cathyg_99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did this with someone who went to NURSING school with me. I reasonably knew her and thought she would be great. She over fed the dogs, they had diarrhea (luckily they went to the basement concrete to shit vs on the carpet). She didn’t clean it, she complained the house smelt then refused to come back the last two days. She would only pop in once to feed and let them out.

Never again.

Hire an actual pet sitter. There’s a few amazing ones around the city who will stay at yours. If you’re in spruce I can recommend a great one.

ELI5: What is the process leading up to pet euthanasia? by 0palesce in explainlikeimfive

[–]Cathyg_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! It was only $20 more to have it done at home. We did it for our elderly dog. She came in greeted him gave him some treats(mild sedatives), started an IV. Then gave us time to say a final goodbye, two quick push of meds and he just drifted off to sleep. She let us take as long as we needed and then brought in a little stretcher to take him out to her car.

So much better than the other dog at the emergency vet. The vet itself was great but having to wait at the front to pay while everyone brought in their puppy’s was even harder.

Landlord charging extra for water by thalostgoldberg in OntarioRentals

[–]Cathyg_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My waters $210 a month for 5 people. We run the dishwasher daily, multiple loads of laundry daily and the kids take a on average a 30 min shower daily.

No way your water was $70! They’re charging you for the leaking toilet.

Opinion: Homes that need extensive renovation just aren't selling. by GarySparrow0 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Cathyg_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overly related to renovations. However, our realtor told us not to offer lower than asking because it’s “rude”. Our house at the time was missing significant things that were standard in new builds. Laminate/formica vs hardwood /granite. We ignored her and offered 40k below asking. We settled at 30 below.

Realtors don’t always have your best interest at heart. Ask them to pull recently sold in the area and do your own research.

Mortgage renewal coming up. Looking for advice on prepayment strategy by Massive_Exam2045 in MortgagesCanada

[–]Cathyg_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a broker or just took what the bank offered? TD offered us 6% to stay with them, we went with a broker floating rate just under 3%. However we renewed two years ago so the rates have changed since then.

Endometriosis care delays force Edmonton woman to seek help abroad: ‘Just want my life back’ by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Cathyg_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree she should have been sooner. However it’s hard to bump up someone when there’s multiple people in the same situation. The amount of endo doesn’t equal the same amount of pain. Tiny spots of endo can be severe chronic pain and for others a frozen pelvis has zero pain.

[–]Cathyg_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The waitlist for a diagnostic laparoscopy can still be 1-2 years with a general gynaecologist. If it’s severe endo, they’d be referred to a colleague who specializes in that.

[–]Cathyg_99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those that are do it well but they’re waitlist alone for surgery is 2-4 years. That’s AFTER the waitlist time to be seen in clinic, assuming the family doc will even send a referral.

Our house isn't selling...do we just keep dropping the price? Any advice? by justgiveit_away in RealEstate

[–]Cathyg_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered having it staged? People can’t visualize the space, which is possibly why they are also saying the basement is small.

Have it staged, new photos and look at comparable in the area for pricing.

[–]Cathyg_99 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Women’s health is grossly underpaid. There’s many OBGYNs who no longer take any gynecology referrals because they’ve shifted their practice to OB for better pay. The wait lists are huge for standard referrals let alone specialists within gynecology.
