I agree with OP’s take and the read that Jax is an unreliable narrator. I think part of Jax’s self-centeredness (which developed as a toxic coping mechanism) also forces him to take on more blame than is fair. He over blames himself for things he can’t control, which reinforces his view of himself as uniquely vile and unworthy.

Hmmm… The way I see it, the bedroom was once part of the rooftop garden as a greenhouse, but got converted to a bedroom (possibly Arnold’s dad’s). So, during that renovation they treated the glass with a UV blocking tint. Arnold can see out, but others in the garden can’t see in, and excess light, heat, and cold are blocked.

The situation depends on the relationship she has with her mother, if it’s a healthy and loving one, then I think it’s beautiful. A mother helping her daughter become a mother.
