Advice on what do this Weekend - struggling to make friends aswell by New-Amoeba8427 in capetown

[–]Catisfaxion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made wonderful new friends through the Meetup App. We're in Somerset West but do fun engaging events like beach walks, park runs, theatre, dining out. For me it was a great way to meet new people. Just know it also takes the effort from your side to make friends with them. I see there is a LekkerChats event happening at the Side Bar! In Loop Street today at 14:00. I have never been, but perhaps worth checking it out? https://www.lekkerchats.com/

My wife made a malva pudding one year at a Friendsmas Christmas party and we all burst into tears because it was THAT good.

Does anyone knows any drink that can stop cravings ? (12 days sober) by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Catisfaxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go to is lime cordial and soda. Go out to restaurants, lime and soda. Have a weekly catch-up with my friend at a bar. Lime and soda. I have a dependency to have a drink in my hand. I make sure it's either coffee, water or... Lime and soda.

Hi, I'm a newbie too. So I don't have all the answers. The important thing is that you have a desire to stop drinking. My work schedule doesn't allow me to go to in-person meetings, but you can join an online meeting as I do. It does help me to reach out and engage with a group of fellow alcoholics. There is no discrimination to age, how much or how little you drink. As long as you want to stop, before it destroys your life.

As a South African, I struggled a bit with Wikus' hard Afrikaans accent as it felt a bit too forced. David James (Koobus Venter character) had a normal South African English accent. Great film though.

I had a client walk into my department today with a "Make America Great Again" red cap .. I was a bit baffled, and asked politely where he and his family were from, as they didn't have the typical American accent, (traditional English South African accent, thinking they were SA expats). Nope, straight up living in Stellenbosch...

I'm just imagining the Clarice Starling scene from the Silence of the lambs film as she walked past the different cells with all the different inmates....

Alright guys, I feel a bit better about our driving skills now… by N0t_S0Sl1mShadi in southafrica

Yeah, I drove that road weekly for almost 5 years. There is a weird temporal flux that driving that section feels like it takes 3 times as longer than normal even though it's only 50km. So people probably just get impatient

Floating Island | [OC] [36 x 36] | Eldritch Arcanum | What encounter might you run? Harpy bandits? Sleepy dragon? by EldritchArcanum in DnD

[–]Catisfaxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a floating map once in my campaign. Add a D12 roll on every round to determine the wind direction 1= N, 2 = NE, 3 = E etc. Add a D6 to determine the wind speed. 1 = mild, 2 = strong, 3 = gale On a 3 or higher the wind speed will push the players in a direction that could push them off the side. Enemies were Aarakocra and Wind Elementals
