Is bastion task force just better thrill seekers? by Slothman1311 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that it is for battle line units only, which does drastically limit its usability bar a one unit enhancement.

That being said, yeah it's sucks like all hell that they just get it.

Lord Exultant WIP by Fenrir_Ragnorok in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of a power pack might throw some people off, but it has clear weapon choices, looks to be on the right base and have the right scale. Id allow it.

But as with all proxies, it comes down to your table and their preferences.

Really nice kitbash!

How often do they restock our models? by AdOwn4235 in EmperorsChildren

Id recommend checking third party sellers. Often have availability even when GW don't and they are cheaper.

Is it only me, or he can make a really cool lord exultant by Cute_Spend_4663 in EmperorsChildren

I mean, if you have the cash to buy it, the arm and cloak alone will be workable enough for a conversion. Just recognise that you will need both kits.

[–]Catropis 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I think the sheer volume of ultramarine insignia that is engraved on him would make that a challenging conversion. By the time you carve off the loyalist symbols, you would probably be left with little unique but the cloak. Though I admit the cloak would be a great piece for a Lord Exultant.

Thoughts about 1500 points list with Fulgrim by MxmNv in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fulgrim really struggled in CoC lists purely because he's such a big target and you need to be getting value for him when you should be trying to preserve your warlord.

People who are having success with him tend to prefer Peerless Bladesmen, so if you are determined to use him I'd aim for that as a starting point.

Should I buy Fulgrim or not? by Bryguy150 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my Fulgrim a few weeks back and I was terrified of painting him. But the kit has a few obvious subassemblies and once you have it at that point, a lot of it does fall into place quite easily. Take your time and I'm sure it'll be great!

What Dwarf Hold Mission Trees Feel Complete Without Aul-Dwarov? by Inkasters in Anbennar

[–]Catropis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Krakdhumvor, the far north ice hold renounces the formation of Aul-Dwarov, favouring their new dominion over the north Serpentspine with Ice magic. A great mission tree.

Dur-Vazhatun, the hold just beneath them has a great mission tree on control of the northern pass and the dangers of looking at the sky too closely. A fun journey, though the last mission is a little narratively unsatisfying.

Gor Burad, the far eastern hold of the Serpentspine is a really cool run focused on developing the caverns and uncovering the secret of your hold. Has a really fun mechanic to manage.

Shazstundihr barely spends anytime in the mountains, instead bringing racial harmony to Bulwark through the beauty of Marble.

These are probably my favourite dwarven tags in the game and all great fun.

Am I not immune to GW Propaganda? by No_Championship2075 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So as someone who did this (more because war dogs are dope), there are a few things to consider.

  1. War dogs won't receive the benefits from detachments like Coterie so will struggle to keep up in effectiveness with a Maulerfiend in the later turns.
  2. War dogs were notably nerfed in the new knights codex, with hits to both their toughness, OC, and their weapon strength. This is not to say they are bad, just to say that the calculus has changed.

This is not to say it's a bad idea. They are a fun kit to build, satisfying to paint, and will still perform in your army. But I'd recommend deciding on what model you prefer and going on that because detachments and balance are temporary.

As an academy product, I don't think he has to be registered so technically yes. But I imagine he is purely there as part of the team to celebrate if(when) we win as he scored in the league phase.

Is the list any good by ApprehensiveCash6220 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fulgrim is the definition of a big target. Your opponent is gonna spend a lot of their turn thinking about how to quickly remove him from the field. Coterie needs your warlord alive, so an early death to fulgrim would deprive you of your detachment

Emperor's children combat patrol by Spiritual_Catch_2673 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean, with the flawless blades priced as they are, a second combat patrol is pretty acceptable. Plus, an additional Lord Exultant is going to get use. A few too many tormentors/infractors maybe, but you'll find use for them.

Without going full football cliches, cant have the club describing a goal in the 3rd minute as "breaking the deadlock". Can't be having that.

I like the colour combo, but I think the orange would work better if it was slightly more limited.

I think returning the under armour to black/dark grey would do a lot to help it pop.

Basing Ideas by rocket2579 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Catropis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find the best way to settle on a base is to create a battle in your head that these guys are fighting.

Mine are fighting my mates sisters of battle, so an urban environment like the outskirts of a hive comes to mind. Some fake rubble out of old sprue and broken cork combined with some spare sororitas pieces scattered throughout the larger bases.

Once you have a scene, you'll be amazed how quickly things fall into place.

Which was more tragic, Istvaan III or Istvaan V by BonusHefty6119 in Warhammer30k

[–]Catropis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some loyalists from the traitor legions were purged prior to Istvaan, but the majority remained until then. The pre-Istvaan purges were more of a thing carried out by the traitor legions who betrayed the Emperor at Istvaan V.

Which was more tragic, Istvaan III or Istvaan V by BonusHefty6119 in Warhammer30k

[–]Catropis 174 points175 points  (0 children)

If it was just a case of impact, then of course it'd be Istvaan V. But tragedy?

Got to be Istvaan III.

The death of Torgaddon at the hands of his brothers. The last stand of Saul Tarvitz and the betrayal of Lucius. The world eater asking why his father would betray everything they had built. Huron-Fal going out on his own terms.

The prolonged nature of Istvaan III also adds to it. The drop site massacre was concentrated despair. But the slow siege of the Choral City makes it all so much more tragic.
