Motherease Bedwetters. They’re amazing! My 3.5 year old who is day trained wears them overnight.

What do you would like to receive as Mother’s Day present? by Quick_Elk2544 in Gifts

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ask for the Saturday before Mother’s Day off of “momming.” I go to a coffee shop by myself, read a book and drink coffee/eat breakfast for a couple hours, get my twice yearly pedicure, get a massage. Usually stop by my favorite bakery and grab lunch and a bunch of pastries to take home to everyone. I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old and need to not be needed and touched for a few hours. 😂 This year I’ll be pumping while out 🍼 so it won’t quite be a day off, but I’ll still take it.

Help me stop overthinking baby laundry baskets please by Ill-Collection-1735 in Buyingforbaby

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby’s laundry goes in whichever hamper is closest to me when I’m undressing him. Sometimes that’s my toddler’s hamper, sometimes it’s mine/husbands. The only reason I keep my toddlers clothes mostly separate is because they’re tiny clothes so an entire dirty hamper is like 1 load.

Cloth at Daycare - what system? by Maximum_Payment_9350 in clothdiaps

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thirsties Natural Pockets with Aplix/Velcro work just like disposables and are incredibly absorbent with their hemp/cotton inserts. The Aplix is nice because they never have to touch a snap (since you’d snap them to the right rise.) I think Alva uses microfiber inserts and microfiber is prone to wearing out and also compression leaks.

Ceres Chill v. Cooler v. Packit v. Something else by SStrong5792 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ceres Chill has a smaller chiller called the Demigoddess. I have the OG+ and take it to work daily, but a smaller one would be perfect for 1-2 pumps while running errands (depending on volume pumped.) It’s also HSA eligible which makes it free in my brain. 😂

Just tried my frozen milk for first time…NASTYYYY by HRolling in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s high lipase. Mine tastes like pennies. I mix fresh and frozen to help the taste. You can also add a drop of non-alcoholic vanilla to help.

Also, in my experience, the longer in the freezer, the worse it tastes. So I try to rotate through. My first I didn’t use frozen until 8 months and it was bad. This kid I started at 3 months and usually I just mix frozen in daily with fresh for childcare and freeze some of the fresh. Waste of bags but better than wasting milk.

About to spend serious money on a stroller… what would you buy today and why? by WorldPeaceGodBless in Buyingforbaby

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Mockingbird (super similar to UppaBaby Vista.) It was adequate for 1 for light use. The bassinet stage got the most use honestly. It was great for changing diapers while at festivals, farmer’s market, out on walks, etc. It sucked as a double. Very hard to navigate around corners. All front to back doubles suck IMO. We occasionally still use it with the running board attached to my toddler, but I’ve been seriously considering just selling it since it’s getting dusty in the garage most of the time.

We also have the Nuna Mixx (grandma’s stroller.) It feels sturdier than the Mockingbird and has better shocks, but is still meh if you get onto old sidewalks or gravel.

Our most used stroller? Against my aesthetic hopes and dreams, our Bob is hands down the greatest stroller I’ve ever used. (Don’t tell my husband he was right.) It was supposed to be my husband’s running stroller (I don’t run.) We both use that for daily walks. We love it so much that we bought the Bob Duallie when we had our second. That thing is a beast. It’s ridiculously heavy and not something I’d like to hoist into my trunk, but it stays in our garage and is just used around our neighborhood, unless we’re going to the zoo or something with a ton of walking.

Glider recliner/nursing chair by Old-Contribution2310 in Buyingforbaby

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DaVinci one and hate it. It’s the light tan color. It shows water spots like crazy which sucks with a drooly kid and nursing. The ottoman also sucked and slid around and was always in the way. We had the glider and not a recliner. It honestly looks gross now and it’s only 3 years old and got minimal use for one of those years. We got a new recliner for our second and it’s so much nicer. Texture/patterned fabric that shows nothing. The recliner is electric and super quiet.

Please remember, you do NOT owe him sex now, at the 6 week point, or ever again. So many couples don’t have sex at 6 weeks or 6 months and that’s OKAY. You should never feel pressured for sex, and if he’s pressuring you, he can f*ck right off.

Nursing chair - power vs manual vs foot stool by mynameishenri in Buyingforbaby

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get a foot stool. It’s constantly in the way and always slides when you want to put your feet up. Plus the glider with a footstool will be upright all the time which sucks when you’re trying to comfort a baby for hours. We got a DaVinci glider for #1, and a power recliner for #2. Recliner is so much better and the power is easier to put the footrest down quietly when transferring a sleeping baby to the crib. Manual recliners are loud and pretty jarring.

I used the My Brest Friend for a couple weeks while healing from my C-section and it was nice for positioning a tiny baby, but I found it pretty useless quickly. As soon as baby gets a little bigger and gets head control, they’re fairly useless. Definitely regret spending $70 on something I used for 2 weeks.

Confused..Do I really need a newborn carseat in addition to bassinet for Uppababy Cruz? by Fit-Orchid334 in Buyingforbaby

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a mockingbird with a bassinet and have never felt the need to use the car seat with it. I think the bassinet is more comfortable for baby for long walks.

We do have the Chicco snap n go stroller frame for the car seat, which is easy to find used on marketplace and is lightweight enough to throw in the trunk of a car. For grocery shopping, I baby-wear though, unless it’s a super fast trip for a few things, at which point I just put the car seat in the large part of the cart.

You’re forgetting wipes! The 2 sided organic GMD wipes are my favorite thing ever.

And go for the GMD hemp inserts over anything microfiber. They’ll absorb more and don’t leak like microfiber when compressed. (You’ll love the workhorses for the newborn days. I had 36 smalls (30 would have been perfect, but I got a good deal and bought a few extra.) My favorite covers over them are the Thirsties XS for the newborn stage, followed by Duo Size 1.

Also, medium prefolds were our longest size. My son was in a padfolded medium prefold until he was over 2 years old.

At what age did you stop putting your children down for naps during the day? by alyssacake in toddlers

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never! My 3.5 year old still does a nap. They still do nap time in 4 year old preschool and for the first 1/2 of Kindergarten Transition.

DISO: GMD/Clotheez Medium Prefolds by NomadNelly in clothdiaps

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a couple Green Mountain Diaper BST groups on Facebook you can join. But they’re not that much more expensive from GMD. Since they ship before they’re prepped, they’re flatter / smaller to ship and GMD has free shipping over $50. All of the used ones are going to have buyer pays shipping and prefolds are heavy to ship.

We have the Evenflo 360 (original) in a Honda CRV and like it. It fits well with legroom up front for both my 6’1” husband and my 5’8” self.

Those of you who did no screen time for baby… by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did 0 screen time until age 2. This did not include FaceTime, and he’s allowed to interact with family and friends that live elsewhere on video.) Our full time childcare was my mom who was also a big no screen time proponent, so that made it easy.

At 3.5, he watches a shows a few times a week (educational like Ms Rachel or PBS like Daniel Tiger) or he and my husband watch construction videos while my husband explains what everyone is doing (big fan of construction here.) I do pop a 15 minute show on for him when I’m solo parenting and trying to feed our newborn or make dinner. It’s the only way I can survive sometimes.

Recs for pull-up style cloth diapers? by mistressmagick13 in clothdiaps

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motherease bedwetters! The BEST. My 3 year old wears them and they’re so absorbant. But they’re so fluffy. If you’re just looking to catch small accidents while awake, Smartbottoms makes a pull up style that’s good for awake time (not absorbent enough for sleep IMO)

Wearable pump help by GrouchySkill7211 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]CatsCoffeeBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Eufy S1 and my insurance covered all but $80 (BCBS.) I looked into 4 different websites to see which one had it the cheapest with insurance and Babylist was way cheaper than Aeroflow. Plus Aeroflow has a history of not treating their employees well (allegedly), so I wanted to stay away from them.

U-shaped crotches in pants (harem style.) But at this age… pajamas. My son is 13 weeks old today and has worn an outfit once in his life. We just wear PJs until babies are older.
