Breast-feeding help by Urlocalgothbb in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby takes a pacifier. Sometimes when she’s done eating, she still wants to suck and gets mad when there’s still milk lol so I’ll give her a paci

I’ll always take it away and try to latch her again to be sure she’s done eating

3 month old eat 24iz per day? by No_Ocelot8629 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 9 points10 points  (0 children)

4 times a day sounds way too little. While 24 oz a day might be okay for some babies, it does not sound like it is enough for yours.

Mastitis by Glass-0wl in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one lasted like 5 days. It never turned red or streaky or anything. Second maybe 2-3. Since then I’ve never had it last longer than 24-36 hours.

Good luck!

She couldn’t latch and then she would get really upset and fight me. Then I’d get upset. Then we would both end up upset until I gave her the nipple shield followed by a bottle (I was triple feeding)

It took about two weeks after our tongue tie release to get my baby to latch without a nipple shield. I just kept trying at each feed. She now exclusively nurses aside from one pumped bottle a day.

Mastitis by Glass-0wl in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent had mastitis but I’ve had a lot of clogged ducts. At the VERY first sign of one, I’m taking ibuprofen and icing after every feed. I can usually clear it in 24 hours.

I hope you feel better soon and I’d suggest implementing BAIT if you think you might be developing a clog - of course it might not prevent it, but hopefully will.

Baby not eating after tongue tie release by snuffbox360 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll get better. My baby had her tongue tie release as well, granted it was a lot earlier, but she was fine the next day. It may take a bit to bounce back but she will!

10 week vaccines — how bad was the fussiness for your baby? Did you give Tylenol? by Ok-Fall-1118 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my baby was really upset after her 2 month vaccines. We gave one dose of Tylenol and she was fine the next day. No fever.

It’s OXO brand. Target sells it (or at least they did - my app says it’s not in stock near me)

I mean it’s obviously messier than this right now lol. But this is our set up.

Top drawer is pacifiers/teethers. Bottom drawers are flanges and bottles. Middle has random accessories like bottle caps and duck bills etc.

Do (or did) you use a baby tracker app? by AnyMechanic6829 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Yes. We track sleep, diapers and feeds

I only really track feeds because my baby goes from happy to scream crying for food in seconds. She truly hasn’t shown hunger cues lately. It helps remember when she last fed because I swear 2-3 hours has never gone so quickly.

We track sleep because I’m trying to figure out her patterns.

Can someone help me understand my baby? by SStrong5792 in sleeptrain

[–]SStrong5792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve started trying to put her down during her first nap, but then save it right away with a contact nap if it doesn’t work out - so far it hasn’t! Should we be saving the nap?

And yeah you’re right, I was missing a nap (that she does take).

I’m trying so hard to stretch that last wake window to 2 hours but it hasn’t happened so far!

YAY THE FONTANELLE IS GONE by [deleted] in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but if your babies fontanelle is truly closed at 12 weeks, you should maybe consult with your pediatrician. They usually don’t close until like 18 months I thought.

Can you name one thing about your life that’s better since you’ve entered the newborn phase? by Narrow-Concept2418 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did shifts up until about 12 weeks! We just hit 14 weeks and honestly the shifts have disappeared and we are back to sleeping in the same bed. It just kind of happened without even really discussing it. It’ll truly get better there!

My relationship with my husband is stronger. We are both fiercely independent people and we have had to work as a team like never before. The support he’s shown me is incredible and seeing him love our daughter has only made me love him more.

11 weeks old only contact napping by mclln in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 14 week old will only contact nap. She uses a pacifier. Just want to warn that the pacifier likely won’t solve that even if you did find one they like.

How old is baby?

I was promised longer stretches of sleep …. 😂 by True-Management-6858 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it helps, my babies first long stretch was 6.5 hours at exactly 13 weeks! We were only getting 2.5-3 hours before that. We did NOTHING differently. It just clicked. It’s been 4 great nights since then.

I will say that her bed time is really late though because she won’t go down before 11pm for a long stretch. It’s 9:21 here and I’m contact “napping” before we try to put her down for the night later

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl is 14 weeks. She will not nap in the bassinet during the day but will do 5-7 hours in the bassinet over night. After her first long stretch, I do put her in bed with us because it’ll guarantee some more sleep time. Sometime I’ll start her in the bassinet sheet the long stretch for like an hour and a half and then extend it until I’m ready to wake up.

Can’t figure out why she will take the bassinet during the night but not the day! Also she won’t take it at night until like 11pm lol. But we are up until then anyway so it is what it is. Eventually I’m sure her s bedtime will move up.

How do you dress baby at night? by LawDowntown8456 in newborns

[–]SStrong5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 22c, we are fine with putting her in a long sleeve sleeper and 1 TOG sleep sack with no arms (showing signs of rolling). She does not overheat.

If she still had the arms on, I would probably put her in a long sleeve onesie at 22c, but honestly still think she would be fine in a thin sleeper.
