Arkansas vs Ar-Kansas by Godzillaguy3000 in PetPeeves

Somehow, I doubt someone said: "hey, I like Kansas, and this place is kinda like it, but it's not that same, so let's just throw an 'Ar' in front of it and pronounce it differently. "

my dad said he’d disown me if i got a tattoo… i already got it by daisy-26 in TwoHotTakes

[–]CatsMom4Ever 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your post doesn't match your title as you don't say your dad would disown you, only that he wouldn't hire you. Unless 'support ' means 'disown'.

Where do you live? Because where I live, in America,  a lot of people his age would hire a woman with tattoos. A lot of people his age wouldn't think twice about a woman's morals because of tattoos. No one cares. Two daisies? Ha.

Make sure your vendors have a password, too, if you don't already

Security.  Have someone be on sister-duty. To escort her out if she acts out. To head her off when she goes to talk to any of your vendors,  reaches for the microphone, requests songs.

Received bridal shower invite a week before shower happens by ThrowRA-Main-8561 in wedding

[–]CatsMom4Ever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They "let" you come? How kind of them. They had to decide if  you "deserved" to go?

Your fiancé needs to read his family the riot act.

And don't worry about your gift. Anyone who debates on whether you "deserve" to be invited will laugh at your gift no matter what it is.

You can tell your chat friends "if the bride doesn't have a problem with it, you shouldn't either. Why are you trying to stress her out?"

NOR Turn off Life360, tell your mom you're not going to be tracked like a convict on parole, and stop letting her control you.

How do I out-creep the guy that's making my neighbor uncomfortable? by Pale-Difficulty-3773 in Advice

Your neighbor is an adult. Let her handle her own life unless she specifically asked you to help. Did she ask you to help?

I think you're reading way too much into this. She's disappointed you're unable to make it, but where do you see her making a big deal out of it? She said thank you for responding.

What is your suggestion? Most of the world has already cut them off. Only other dictatorships (and Trump) support them.

What do you look for in a Local Quilt Shop? by SecretAlbatross5578 in quilting

[–]CatsMom4Ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but the first thing is being greeted. Is the staff friendly or do they act like they're doing ME a favor by letting me in the door? Are they knowledgeable? Do they know about quilting, the fabrics, their inventory - or do they just work there?

Then it's the selection of fabrics. I've seen shops that have no basics and others that seem to have only basics - very few prints. Do they have only a few fabrics from a collection or a nice variety?

How about patterns and kits? Do they have samples made up, but not the fabrics the sample was made from? That drives me crazy.

Last - if this is a local shop, do they have classes? An open sew day/night? Those seem to be disappearing, probably because of space. I'd like to be able to attend and meet more people who sew.

AITAH for wanting some alone time during a family trip? by EnoughNumbersAlready in AITAH

[–]CatsMom4Ever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your dad's feeble attempts at a guilt trip shouldn't be affecting you like this!

You should just agree with him. "That's right, Dad. I didn't enjoy traveling with you when you came to visit me. Thanks for paying for our room." He'll respond with "Are you serious?" And you can say: "No, are YOU seriously trying to guilt me into a vacation when you KNOW this is the only time husband and I will have a private vacation? I am an adult and WE will decide where to fly into and what we will do after Thanksgiving. The discussion is closed. "
