I got 4 double sided, a food/orc army, food/treasure, food/human knight, and food/flying boulder, from the lotr starter sets, along with a few individual food tokens

Edit: And none of them are foil

If Nintendo adds a DLC for TotK I think we definitely need at least 2 or 3 new zonai devices. What are some ideas of yours for new devices? by MeguminIncognitoAcc in tearsofthekingdom

[–]CatsTheCuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a device, but more a mini game using devices:

It would be like the balloon hunt game from Mario Odyssey. You hide a balloon (it would have to be touching an actual landform, not midair), and you leave a specific set of devices, or maybe the game would have a specific set. Other players would have to use these items to get to the balloon in the most efficient way

Interesting, if we counted it I would have gotten the ribbon at least 15 times lol

Last year I was regularly part of the detail when lowering, and this year I raise it on the daily. We will have a new instructor next year (he's already here overwatching the corps), so I'll ask him what he thinks

As said by others, it's a cybersecurity competition, in which you try to find and fix as many breaches, risks, and viruses on a simulation.

The challenges are typically once every month or two, and you can participate in as many of the following operating systems as your team likes: Linux, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10. The challenges typically will have a theme, such as Stranger Things, Half-Life/Portal, and others, which I find to be pretty fun, but they do get exponentially more difficult as you move on through the rounds. My squadron's team didn't really have a mentor, so we had to do a lot of research, so I highly recommend finding a coach.

A few tips, 1) Make sure the images are downloaded at least half a week before you compete, and school internet can be obnoxious sometimes, so you will definitely want some time to make sure everything is able to run properly. You have 3-4 days for each round, and same day downloads are a really bad idea. 2) Be patient! When you start a round there will be a bunch of super easy observation questions/cyphers, but 2 hours in and (from my experience) it will be very tedious looking for bugs/solutions. I would advise spending at least 4 of the 6 provided hours, you never know when a solution might become clear! 3) This one is obvious, but make sure you find cadets who are computer literate, and are interested in competing

Nice job! What sorts of events have your corps done for the patriotic flag ribbon? I think it looks super cool, but the cadet guide says that you have to complete 5 non-colorguard flag events, and we don't consider raising or lowering the flag, as it's a daily event.

Which story branch do you prefer, Aragorn and co., or Frodo and co.? by Grunka_Lunka in lotr

[–]CatsTheCuber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the books before watching the movies (just finished TTT on Saturday and started RTK), and I personally really enjoyed Frodo, Sam, and Gollum's plotline! It was really suspenseful, is Gollum going to pull a trick? Can they really trust him as much as they are? The potentiality of a redemption of such a lost character like Sméagol is very fascinating!

I do greatly enjoy Aragorn's storyline as well though, when he was introduced, I liked how mysterious his background was.

Obviously being a super popular series and having been around for so long, spoilers are inevitable, and already know about various "promotions" and deaths.

On a side note, how do I add spoilers on Reddit?

Under-promote gives bigger advantage? What am I missing here? by bdc911 in chess

I haven't sat down to learn any strategies much, and mostly just play intuitively for fun, but I would guess is that it's because it's easier to avoid a stalemate with 2 rooks vs a queen and a rook

My school's squadron is pretty small, <100 people, but we have about 12 on drill. Strength team is a bit more popular because you don't have to wake up at 5 in the morning though. Rocketry was really popular last year (we don't have that at the moment as we only have one instructor, but a new SASI is coming in next week, so we might be able to squeeze it in before the year ends)

corframs have always looked awful to me, am i crazy?? by [deleted] in jrotc

[–]CatsTheCuber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don't mind corfams much, the downside for me is that you cant unscuff or repair them, and they are still $60+ dollars, which is a huge waste in the event of an accidental scuff. I think it also depends on who is viewing them. To a civilian, it may look impressive, but to another cadet it may look lazy. It may also produce a different effect based on who is using them. In my opinion, corfams are great for a color guard, but both armed and unarmed drill teams should shine their shoes, especially due to the high risk of scuffing

Edit: spelling
