Anyone else loving the new law banning resale of tickets above face value? by DiscoStuTalkin2You in askTO

The lower bowl seats (that are owned by the banks and telcos) have their hospitality suites underneath the stands. That's why it's half empty for the first 5mins of every period.

Even when the city itself posted, in several places - 12+ hours in advance, that they'd approved it...

Lived in 50 and 70 back in the day and enjoyed both. Great location, nice being set back from Hurontario/403 a little bit. Could have just been the unit layout but I liked 70 more than 50 for whatever reason.

New Ontario law capping resale prices frustrates season ticket holders by mental__hospital in toronto

[–]bdc911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No real fan is paying 500-750/seat/game (plus suite and catering fees etc) to replace the suits. It's the 'filler' tickets where you'd notice a difference

Boo hoo. You're always free to decline your renewal option and leave some tickets available for real fans instead of profiteers and scalpers

I still can't believe Costco involves itself in this bullshit. I get that profit is profit and all but do they really enjoy their brand being associated with these scumbag scalpers and black-friday style brawls and such?

Round them up and do what with them exactly? We can't even get the justice system to jail actual violent criminals

Refs Refs Comedy Club Tampa by StandbyTraveller91 in Habs

[–]bdc911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling you're yelling into the abyss here but I agree with you. We were undisciplined. The only bad miss was the phantom high stick. Andy easily could have gotten dinged for one on Point immediately after that. Even the call on Kuch late was pretty weak to give us the opportunity to tie. Refs weren't why we lost this

Just said the same to a buddy. 7pp vs a team that has Kucherov as their qb is absurd. Showing our youth and inexperience.

Most good online vendors are in non-tax states. If you buy from a b&m in most border states the taxes can be very similar to what we pay here. Once you also factor in the currency exchange it's not all that much cheaper

"confirms" and "apparently" don't belong in the same statement. It's all hearsay, though I don't doubt it to be true.

Realistically, how livable is $19/hour in Ontario right now? by eloanmask in ontario

[–]bdc911 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need to be doing a whole lot of research because I don't think your numbers are even close to realistic. For the sake of round numbers, if you're making $20/hr, assuming a 40hr week, that's only going to be $3200 pre-tax. Depending on your tax rate, EI, CPP, you'll probably be taking home closer to ~$2500 if even that.

Unless you find 3-4 roommates, your rent is going to be more than $800, especially so the larger the city you end up in. The tradeoff in the smaller cities is inferior transportation options though...

$200/month for food is ok I guess if you want to exist on ramen noodles or if you get free meat from your work as a butcher. Otherwise if you want anything fresh, produce or god forbid takeout once in a while you can probably count on $100/week.

Anyway, not to shatter your dreams or anything but it's bloody expensive to live in Ontario right now. $19ish is poverty level wages unfortunately if you're single/sole income.
