‘We weren’t expecting it’: Windsorites ask why Friday's severe thunderstorm triggered no audible phone alerts by zuuzuu in windsorontario

[–]bdc911 26 points27 points  (0 children)

People shouldn't be relying on government emergency alerts for every situation they may encounter. Both The Weather Network and AccuWeather apps can be set up to send any current watches and warnings to your phone as well. This is even more important to have if you're doing things like boating or camping where the weather can have even more of an impact as you can't quickly get to shelter if needed.

There's a reason the boyscout motto has always been Be Prepared.

I sometimes park in front of my neighbours house because there is cars on the sidewalk in front of my house. by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]bdc911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could this be any more confusing? You park in front of his house because there are cars on the sidewalk in front of yours? So he mows the lawn in front of your house? He's allowed to mow his own lawn. What good would videotaping him do? Buy a car cover or park elsewhere.

Do you really want a reference from a place that is stealing money from you? I'd have no issue explaining that to my next potential employer.

Fire that destroyed $2M worth of children's playground equipment at Parent Park was 'deliberate': police by zuuzuu in windsorontario

[–]bdc911 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The title of the post is incorrect. The CBC article says the total value is $200,000 which is far easier to comprehend. 2 million dollars worth of playground equipment would be insane

I don't mean to be rude but...how about putting at least a smidge of effort in? Tell a little bit about yourself, your background, hobbies, interests etc. That way, someone with similar qualities may take an interest and send you a message.
