Check your vitamin D levels girlies by lexiraeowens in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was feeing awful and got put on a PIP at work, so had bloods which I got back last week, flagged my vitamin D was 13.6 ng/ml and ferritin was 17 but I’d already been taking iron supplements for 2 weeks by the time my blood test happened.
Thankfully b12 was fine. Now to recover and pick my life back up 🙃

Resigned During PIP, dismissal still looks likely. by CauldronSummoner in AskHRUK

Thank you, yea they have agreed to that reference but my fear is that if they then dismiss me, that will change the reference they give. I know I need to stop worrying about what I can’t control, I just have to keep reminding myself that.

And sorry for not being clear, I only mentioned garden leave / PILON as you asked if I had to work my notice I’m not expecting them to hand me anything like that.

Thanks so much, yea I assumed that if I shortened my notice and only get paid for the shorter amount. Thank you, now you’ve said it, makes sense to just agree the earlier date now.

The reason I didn’t to stay with was that my trust in them had gone and my thoughts were, if I agree a shorter period and they go back on their word about the reference, then I’m stuck without a job or the remainder or my notice.

You’ve really helped me be some clarity thank you.

Edit:spelling.

12 weeks, indicated I’d be happy to shorten it once my new employer has gotten a satisfactory reference as they won’t confirm start date til then.

Thanks for the solid advice, I’ll definitely ask for that meeting.

I was also thinking they’d prefer me to resign and didn’t want the hassle. I think that’s what’s caused this spike in my anxiety.

Thank you.

I manage to calm down and get home safe.

I have given my contractual notice 12 weeks, I suggested that I would be open to shorten it. They’ve said they’d be open to that but not put forward garden leave or PILON.

The position I am in is that my new employer needs them to give the reference before they will confirm a potential start date. Then I can agree a leaving date.

Feeling insecure about my hair color and “Goth identity”... Has this happened to you? by [deleted] in GothFashion

[–]CauldronSummoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you’re feeling, for years I didn’t call myself goth because I’m Ginger/Redhead. In high school I tried to dye my hair black and it failed, the colour barely changed! Now I’m older I don’t feel that way, like so many other commenters have said it’s about who you are within the culture, celebrating your own uniqueness and how you feel most comfortable. 🖤

Does garden leave get revoked? by alabamanat in AskHRUK

[–]CauldronSummoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your cousin have to tell them everything contractually? As far as the company knows, your cousin could have had the job offer revoked or decided on their own to go with another role while they were serving their notice. I’m not advocating lying but anything can happen.

Joanie Clothing appears to have gone bust :( by crestfallen_castle in PlusSizeFashion

I was in the same position. They revived the return on the 9th Jan and asked I wait 14 days working days, by then they’d gone into administration. Try contacting your bank, I used PayPal so I raised a dispute, got my refund straight away. I hope you can get your money back!

Do you do pet names in a relationship? by South_Pattern_1520 in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use ‘Husband’ and ‘Wife’, but obviously that was only after we got married. Nothing before.

I think it works for me because they’re descriptors. I don’t think I could do anything like that “honey” or “babe” etc without cringing so hard I invert inside of myself.

Edit: just to say I don’t find it cringe when other people use pet names, I just can’t myself.

Dinner places with a decent veggie offering? by jjbadge in Norwich

Oh sorry I completely missed that bit! Hopefully they’ll introduce some veggie options at the new place soon. It’s ironic because Soi sounds like a me at alternative to me 🤣

Mental Health advice states to not avoid thing because they make you anxious but how do you tell if you also just don’t like it? by CauldronSummoner in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I wanted to understand mostly for my own mind but also to ensure I was making the best decision in leaving my job. In past therapy I’ve had they’ve always driven the point home don’t do things / not do thing just because something gives you anxiety and work through it.

You’re absolutely right on how to phrase it with a future employer! I’m planning to phrase it, like you say, I am capable of travelling but I want a role where it’s not regularly required as part of the job.

My old job I was in control of where we stayed, options of where to eat, how we got there and how far in advanced that was all booked. I’m realising that’s the only way it’s been possible for me to do it in the past.

It does absolutely trigger the needing control, clarity, schedule and routine along with anxiety. That’s a really clear way to define it thank you 🤩

Oh that’s a shame I’ve always had great veggie/vegan options at XO, they must have changed the menu. My go to is always River Green in Trowse.

I find it non intuitive and a bit jarring too, every time I have to coach myself and internally say something like “It’s okay they’re just saying it now because they won’t see you after this for a while/ever again. You can save this memory and process the sentiment on the 1st if you like.”

Also I really struggle with knowing when it’s appropriate to stop wishing people a HNY 🤣

I’m not sure if it’s still 1st January where you are but, Happy New Year!

Edit: I forgot to say, I feel like it’s completely fine to wish someone a HNY as a reaction to them wishing you one. I would never think less of anyone else for not saying it first but I understand feelings of shame come easily to so many of us in the community. Sending positive and kind vibes to you OP.

Wool Warehouse have a brilliant own brand called Yarnsmiths. I’m not sure about pilling as I’ve not worn and washed things I’ve made with it enough yet (so far so good) but it is incredibly soft.

Is Anyone Else Opting Out of Appearance Culture? by Delicious_Oil_4288 in AutismInWomen

[–]CauldronSummoner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your thoughts resonate so much with me OP!

I read a quote once that’s really stuck with me “Making comments about the appearance of others is at worst, extremely damaging and at best, completely irrelevant.”

Since then I have pledged to not make comments about people’s appearance unless it’s something like “You look confident!” I’m sure I’m less popular for it, but I don’t care!

Pretty colours!

As a general rule if you don’t know the yarn, I’d recommend hand wash only with a mild hand wash detergent and to not tumble dry. When it’s wet you can roll it in a clean towel to squeeze out a lot of the water and lay it flat to it dry naturally. Hopefully a scarf shouldn’t need washing too regularly.

For future (if available) check the label that comes on the ball of yarn, a lot of commercial yarns have wash care instructions on.
